Blues News You Can Use!
The Hope Of The Future
This past week's Ozark Blues Society's board of directors elections have put me into a distinct mood of contemplation.
Yes, yours truly was elected to another
term as secretary, but as I see it the board officers are not so much about being leaders but about being foundations for support and growth of the art form we
know as blues music.
Besides my duties as secretary, I of course do the newsletter and "try" to keep up
with the website and Facebook, however my greatest passion lies in the education committee I lead. I have led in this area
for OBS for more years than we have
had a committee to plan activities. I am thrilled that more recently we have such
a number of members and musicians interested in assisting this area. To me
this is truly the most important aspect of
my involvement with Ozark Blues Society.  Please see the article below for ways you too can get involved.

2016 is now well underway and I am still struggling a bit to keep abreast of events for the calendar. Artists and readers don't forget to link me up to events you have or know about, especially if the events aren't posted to the local calendars. As always I would love submissions of news and other articles as well! Send any
ideas or comments to me anytime at:

The Noah Wotherspoon Band
Next Week
They may be just passing through but you can count on the Noah Wotherspoon Band to put on a concert not to be missed. Noah and his band lit up the talk on Beale Street last year at the 2015 International Blues Challenge as they made their way to the finals.  Noah snapped up the award for
best guitarist of the 2015 event and his band took second place overall. Why not skip the crowds on Sunday and take your V-Day sweetie to hear some awesome blues on Tuesday at The Meteor Guitar Gallery in Bentonville instead?  The Noah Wotherspoon Band will rock your socks off!

Blues Education Update
Blues education has been a long standing priority of Ozark Blues Society. We have presented programs to share the love of blues with all ages from toddlers to adults. Most recently we have seen significant growth in our Blues in the Schools programs. We always thrilled for these opportunities but couldn't do it without the support, both financial and otherwise, of our OBS members. Please consider ways you might help support blues education.

Watch this newsletter for upcoming ways to get involved. We are working to organize a workshop for musicians who would like to be a part of the Ozark Blues Society Blues in the Schools.  If you would like more information please email Sandy McCann at smccann7@sbcglobal.net
Ozark Blues Society
Annual Meeting
Ozark Blues Society held our annual meeting and elections on Monday, February 8 at Foghorn's in Springdale. The board wishes to thank the members who came out to participate. Because of board members who vacated positions early due to moves and personal reasons, elections were held for all four board officer positions. For the offices of president and treasurer, elections were held for one year terms in order to put the elections for these
positions back onto the odd year voting (standard term of 2 years, two positions elected each year.)

Elected to 1-year terms expiring February 2017, were:
Bill Baird - president
Cheryl Canfield - treasurer

Elected to 2-year terms expiring February 2018, were:
Leah Spears-Blackmon - vice president
Sandy McCann - secretary

Please feel free to reach out to any of the board members.  We are all here to serve Ozark Blues Society. To get connected, just E-mail Bill Baird: bbaird07@sbcglobal.net
