Though there are a number of amazing blues and friends music happening in the area, since it still is not quite yet patio season let me point you toward a very special opportunity our area has. It's that time of year already....students of music want (need) to share their progress with an audience. It is recital season! Whether you adore the symphony orchestra, a choir concert, Boston Mountain Brassworks, or the percussion ensemble...you will find them on the University of Arkansas Campus during the next few weeks. Recitals at Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall are free. Larger concerts at The Faulkner Performing Arts Center require tickets though the cost is very minimal. Interested? Check out the full schedule: UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS MUSIC Another end of the school year "recital" group to watch for are the Fayetteville and Rogers School of Rock bands. These students would also love to have a screaming crowd at their upcoming performances. Their performances kick off a bit later in May so watch this newsletter for information!
Lastly, always remember I need artists and readers to help me get linked up to events you have or know about, especially if the events aren't posted to the local calendars. Send any
ideas or comments to me anytime at:

Friday April 8
Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers
|
Happy Hour at Georges is going to be happier that usual on Friday, April 8th when Jimmy Thackery hits Fayetteville with his band. To make it even better (is that possible??) Earl Cate plans to join Jimmy and the Drivers on stage. Getting Jimmy and Earl in the same place at the same time doesn't happen as often as blues lovers would like so this show will be a real deal not to be missed event!

You have to open your mind. I like the ability to express myself in a deep way. It's the closest music to our humanity - it's like a folk music that rises up out of a culture. Read more at: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/s/sonnyterry211910.html

Blues means what milk does to a baby. Blues is what the spirit is to the minister. We sing the blues because our hearts have been hurt, our souls have been disturbed. Read more at: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/a/albertahun394876.html
The blues was like that problem child that you may have had in the family. You was a little bit ashamed to let anybody see him, but you loved him. You just didn't know how other people would take it. Read more at: http://www.azquotes.com/quote/158627
