This past weekend I actually had a "no labor," Labor Day weekend. Sometimes it works out that way for me, sometimes it doesn't. Here's to hoping you had a good break from routine. As I thought about "no labor" I got to thinking about the small word "no" and how it can actually work in our favor. We can have "No nonsense," "No fuss," and one of my favorites, "No worries." This small word that pops up in our world when we are toddlers and usually represents a feisty negative can be used to turn around what might otherwise be negatives into positives. So is it with Blues music. What many tend to think of as sad or negative situations represented by blues music are actually forms of empowerment! It's an opportunity to call out that negative and say, NO MORE! So when you get a chance why not help me share the news of "No blues, Blues!"
We are well into our registration period for the 2016 Ozark Blues Society Blues Challenge. It is one of our major activities since it carries a prize that supports our competition winners on their trip to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January. You will find the informational article running again this week below in the newsletter. Also a reminder, for anyone who plans to register, one member of your act must be a member of Ozark Blues Society and that process must be completed before registering.
Again this week's calendar is full of
live music opportunities. Always remember, if I am missing YOUR information... or that of your favorite band or venue, you need to email me! I want this newsletter to offer you theinformation you, the reader, finds helpful. Also please send any ideas or comments to me anytime at:
