New Painting: Keep it Light
|
Acrylic painting on canvas, 24" x 30". Completed in 2008. A painting I did while house sitting in Silver City, New Mexico, 25 minutes outside of town. The views were spectacular of Cooks Peak. The painting took on a whimsical energy and wanted to be kept light. The colors used in this painting are turquoise sky, green and light blue mountains, pink sprawling land, green trees, a golden yellow path with red and teal bushes up front.

Can you believe our summer is half over already? I hope you are having a blast these days. Please catch me up on your life.
What is Freedom to you? Is it being free of all restrictions? Is it financial freedom? Is it freedom to say what needs to be said? I think that LOVE might be the truest expression and definition of freedom. If we love unconditionally, I believe we just might be free. There will be no comparisons, no judgements, nothing that would inhibit us or hold us back. Love for self is the highest form of freedom. If we have that, we also free up everyone around us. We own our life and that gives us free choice which leads to freedom.
My own freedom began two years ago, July 2006, when I packed my car and left Connecticut for the southwest. How can it be two years already? Freedom does not mean that it is easy. Freedom does have its challenges along with its glorious pleasures. Oh yeah....

Placing datura flowers out of their natural setting and upon a painted frame gives a contemporary look to this realistic scene from the desert. Blue mountains seen off in the distance are set off by the maroon, green, and pink foreground. Mauve trees appear to sway in the breeze of a sunny day.
