Team IRC Races For Literacy
On Sunday, May 7, 84 IRC volunteers, supporters, clients, and staff walked in the 8K Race for Literacy. Thank you to all who walked with us or sponsored a client. We had a great time walking or running through Balboa Park. Proceeds of the race went to the San Diego Council on Literacy - who is a supporter of IRC's First Things First Mother Preschool Program.
Hope to see you next year!

Student Plus Volunteer Celebration
The Students Plus After School program for refugee high school students celebrated the hard work of our volunteer tutors on May 25th with an evening event that featured food, drinks, music, and BINGO! The students cooked food for the volunteers and enjoyed their company instead of being tutored! Volunteers brought friends and family and tried the great variety of food brought by the students: Somali sambusa, Cambodian noodles, egg rolls, rice, and Vietnamese brownies.
Students Plus is in its 10th year and relies extensively on volunteers. This past semester, over 50 volunteers helped with the program.

| New Logo!
|
The International Rescue Committee introduced a new logo designed to give it a look that is both distinctive and memorable.
“Our logo has changed, but not our commitment,” said George Rupp, the IRC’s president. “We will continue to serve the world’s most vulnerable people, and we will do so as efficiently and effectively as we always have.”
Rupp said the new yellow and black logo is designed to convey more quickly and powerfully the nature and urgency of the IRC’s work.
The logo and its applications were developed at no cost to the IRC by the marketing agency Foote Cone & Belding – New York and its branding affiliate FutureBrand.
