OK Reggae People, as you may or may not know, our base of operations at Reggae Festival Guide is on the West Coast of North America. Most of North America's largest individual reggae festivals are concentrated in this region. Artists book their entire tour around these dates year after year.
This evening 2/16/06 kicks off a tour that is rooted in the celebration of the life of Robert Nesta Marley. A celebration of Black History month, this festival tour is representative of artistes, production crews, promoters, arts and crafts and food vendors, radio and sound system DJ's, print media personnel and thousands of livicated fans who make this event a yearly ritual and rely on it for their sustenance throughout the year.
As Bushman recently put it in an interview at KXLU in Los Angeles with DJ Junor Francis: " I am very honored to be a part of this event, I think of it as a privilege. Bob Marley is a legend and he is the one who makes me what I am today. This is an event where people from all nations and of different colors come together. I give a shout out to the promoters who make it happen."
Although the lineup and promoters may differ at each event, they are all produced by a One Love network of reggae soldiers who indeed make miracles happen year after year.
The tour kicks off in Tijuana, Mexico at El Foro TONITE~!

|
|
Editor's note: Some of you may have noticed that we have not published the report recently. Due to our change in newsletter format, we have spent the last few weeks tweaking some of the issues with our programmers. Here is the latest information on the Roots Music Report.
The term "roots" doesn't signify "roots reggae" only, but refers to the genre classification of REGGAE as part of TRADITIONAL art forms like country, bluegrass and BLUES music. DJ's SIGN UP TODAY TO SUBMIT YOUR PLAYLIST. www.rootsmusicreport.com The Roots Music Report became associated with RBA Publishing and Reggae Festival Guide through our sister publication, BLUES FESTIVAL GUIDE magazine and e-zine.
The Roots Music Report which has long established itself as a leader in reporting and tracking the airplay data of roots based music from around the globe, is pleased to announce the launch of a series of regional and international charts based on gloablly reported statistics. The data for the charts will be compiled weekly from their database of over 300 individual broadcasters, reporting airplay statistics for roots based music played on individual and syndicated programs worldwide.
Roots Music Reprots's general manager, Robert Bartosh, has announced that the RMR has officially launched charts for California, Illinois, New York and Tennessee. The rest of the charts, covering all 50 states, will be launched in the coming weeks. The RMR will also be publishing international airplay charts for Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom in the near future.
Again if you are a DJ in any of these markets or ANYWHERE and you play REGGAE MUSIC, please submit your playlists weekly to the Roots Music Report for its general reggae chart which comes out weekly. To view the charts or find out more information on RMR visit www.rootsmusicreport.com

Richie Spice : : In The Streets To Africa
One of the most anticipated albums of the season is this release from Richie Spice. The follow up to his release SPICE IN YOUR LIFE, this album features guest vocalist, the late Joseph Hill singing "Digital Ways" which finds his poignant lyrics and vocals the centerpiece of the song with light touches of Richie Spice in the background. "Baby Face" features Richie's blood brothers Spanner Banner and Pliers. And a heap of songs that have made the rounds of the charts worldwide arready including the epic "Youths Dem Cold" on the "Truths and Rights" rhythm, the ultra conscious "Open The Door" and the lovely "Brown Skin" which reaches out to the ladies. As for the critical acclaim, Richie Spice is the critics darling, picking up the mantle where the forefathers like Bob Marley left off. Making reference to reggae's king, Baz Dreisinger writes for the Los Angeles Times that Richie Spice "has at least at least one thing in common with the master: Subtly and soberly, he makes message music you can hum along to."
