Love, My Sweet Sunlight
Oh Love, my Sunlight, you have finally arrived and just on time, like I knew you would. You've risen and fallen in such grace but it is now time for me to feel you upon my face. The days before this, have been long and cold, at times dreary with winters baron whispers which have grown so old. Her clouds covered you, day after day, continually sending you away. They didn't allow you to birth buds upon the naked trees, sprout lush carpets of grass across the land or bring to life little red robins that sit outside my window to wake me this day. But today Love, my Sunlight, you are here, shining upon me, caressing my soul and giving me strength to go another day with you in my heart, gifting you to the passers by who still hold such sullen faces. You've warmed the waters of the streams I frolic, Grown the grass which holds the early morning dew that kiss my feet, spirited the blossoms of velvety roses, injecting them with natures' sweet elixir of love. And to you Love, my Sunlight, I thank you. I stand in awe of your gracefulness, praise your majestic rays that sweep the hillsides and alas, you are here for all to enjoy, day after day. After enlightenment, chop wood and carry water." ~ Wu Li, Zen Buddhist Philosopher It’s common for those who work (or desire to work) in the spiritual, wellness, healing and creative arts to sometimes feel an inner tug of war between personal quests for peace, joy, creativity and enlightened living and the often mundane, chaotic and stressful feel of day-to-day work. Especially in a metropolitan area, where life moves at a furious pace, many people would love to simply get off the fast track and feel "free". But happiness doesn't require escaping to a mountaintop. As the old adage says...”Wherever you go, there you are.” We are the same beings who show up in a tranquil garden or a crowded office building. So, the key to maintaining a sense of self is to have a clear, focused, visionary inner life - based on personal values & passions - that intentionally inform the experiences of your outer life. "Work as Spiritual Practice" addresses how to maximize your work-life by showing up as your “real self” in the midst of the “real world”.
