THE GREATEST SILENCE: RAPE IN THE CONGO PREMIERES AT SUNDANCE

Women Make Movies is thrilled to announce that our recent acquisition THE GREATEST SILENCE: RAPE IN THE CONGO by Lisa F. Jackson will have its world premiere, screening in the Documentary Competition at Sundance. Be sure to check out this powerful new film about the epidemic of rape in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Produced in association with HBO Documentary Films and the Fledgling Fund.

PRODUCTION ASSISTANCE AND WMM OTHER FILMMAKERS FROM AT SUNDANCE & SLAMDANCE

WMM would like to extend our congratulations to the filmmakers from the WMM community who will also be at Sundance and Slamdance.
* Subiha Sumar (For a Place Under the Heavens, Don't Ask Why) will have the U.S. premiere of her latest film, DINNER WITH THE PRESIDENT in the World Cinema Documentary Competition.
* NERAKHOON (THE BETRAYAL) by renowned cinematographer Ellen Kuras, which was produced with the assistance of the WMM Production Assistance Program, will have its long-awaited world premiere in the Documentary Competition.
* Isaac Julien (The Passion of Remembrance) will be in attendance with his new film DEREK, which has its world premiere in the World Cinema Documentary Competition.
* Jude Ray, consulting producer of WMM release Calling the Ghosts, is the co-executive producer and co-director of TRACES OF THE TRADE: STORIES FROM THE DEEP NORTH, screening as a world premiere in the Documentary Competition.
* Cynthia Lester’s MY MOTHER'S GARDEN from the Production Assistance Program screens in the Documentary Feature Competition at Slamdance. * Sonali Gulati, filmmaker of WMM release Nalini by Day, Nancy by Night, shows her film 24 FRAMES PER DAY in the Shorts Block 6 Programs at Slamdance.
* And, we are particularly pleased to announce that WMM staff member Merrill Sterritt edited LLOYD NECK, screening in Shorts Program V at Sundance.
