Special Water Quality Program Coming Up on March 27! |
"When You Shouldn't Touch the Water" is the title of an important program scheduled for the Rivers Coalition meeting on March 27.
You won't want to miss this expert presentation from Bob Washam, environmental director of the Martin County Health Department. Mark your calendar now.
As you know, the St. Lucie estuary has been bombarded in wet years with monumental releases of polluted fresh water from Lake Okeechobee . In '05 the estuary damages reached new levels of damages, including the spread of toxic blue-green algae, dark sedimentation, excessive nutrients and other issues.
Washam will explain the consequences of degraded waters and field questions about how the Martin/St. Lucie community is affected and what may done to correct the problems.
