Joseph Israel Bio: “Mixing Rock, Jazz, and Folk to a Rockers Reggae Bass, Joseph Israel is a musician who knows the past with an eye on the future.” Relix Magazine Jan 2008
“Message Music delivered with the energy of youth and a Faith that eschews all boundaries.” Beat Magazine Vol.26, 2007 May 20th, 2008.
The universal power and appeal of Israel’s Music is bringing all types of people together in this time of spiritual awakening. “A Feeling of true hope for the human race and a promise of good things to all people of goodwill is the message in this Roots music.” says Israel. His music is full of soulful songwriting and acoustic guitar with Gospel harmonies and hard-core reggae drum and bass.
Joseph Israel’s music has also recently taken root in the Hasidic and messianic groups around the world thanks to heavy rotation on Yati radio (www.yatiradionetwork.com). As a student of Torah (Hebrew scripture) and the teachings of Moshiyach (messiah ) Yahshua of Nazereth, Israel is a unique artist making musical waves with this, as many people are saying “messianic reggae.”
Joseph Israel & band will be playing crowd favorites from the Gone are the Days album (Israel’s debut CD which reached #11 on reggae Billboard Charts, 2007), and the Teach Your Children Restore Humanity (acoustic EP on iTunes exclusive). Joseph Israel will also use this tour to bring in some new songs (unreleased material), that is being considered for the upcoming new album. www.josephisrael.com www.myspace.com/josephisrael
Lafa Taylor Bio: A world traveler based in Oregon, Lafa Taylor is a rapidly up and coming Northwestern emcee/producer. Choosing to rhyme about current issues in a positive and constructive way, his music carries a message of inspiration for all walks of life. You can't help but feel good after attending a Lafa Taylor show!
Lafa's bass heavy hip-hop beats mixed with reggae, electronica and funk, never fail to get the dance floor moving. His verbal style ranges from sweet melodic vocals to tongue twisting rapid rhymes. He is also known for his intricate beat boxing, and creates live on the spot beats using his voice and a guitar looper pedal. Lafa's live show is energetic, dynamic and unique. He has a great talent for connecting with his audience and working with the energy of the crowd.
In the summer of 2003, at age 17, Lafa single handedly produced and released his debut album "Life Music". In 2004 he released "Hot Winter". A step into a new realm of music making, Lafa created this multimedia album while spending the winter in his father's country of Costa Rica, with a portable studio in his backpack.
Next Lafa headed out to conquer Japan. There he joined the multi-platinum band "Def Tech" on a 26-city, sold out tour. Lafa's song "Lift Up" with Def Tech has seen major success in Japan. It was licensed for a Sony Ericsson commercial and the music video saw heavy rotation on MTV Japan and Space Shower. Lafa's third disc, "Different" has been a huge success, and brought joy and inspiration to many. Not only are the lyrics witty, uplifting and thought provoking, but the production showcases Lafa's maturing skills as beatmaker and producer.
Well loved by many, Lafa is rapidly making a name for himself on the west coast, opening for big names as well as headlining his own sold out shows. Watch for this international man of music as he continues to spread love and positive vibrations wherever he goes. www.lafataylor.com www.myspace.com/lafataylor

THE AGGROLITES
|
The Aggrolites have just wrapped up the 46-date Vans Warped Tour, where they played one of the most memorable shows of their career – the revered sunset slot at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Seattle, WA. In addition to winning over fans in each city with their infectious dirty reggae, The Aggrolites were named “Best Band” by fellow Warped artists and touring crew. After a brief month hiatus, they will be at it again. This September, the quintet will be heading back overseas to Europe, entertaining fans with their high energy set during a two week tour. They will be exploring new ground this time around, hitting stages for the first time in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Poland and Czech Republic. Their recent album Reggae Hit L.A. (Hellcat/Epitaph 2007) got nothing but rave reviews from the European press – Riddim (Germany) called the songs “masterpieces” and according to Big Cheese (UK) the album was “addictive” and “their best yet.” Then The Aggrolites will treat Southern Californians to four big homecoming shows, which will include their first headline slot at the world-famous Roxy Theatre in Hollywood. “We can’t wait to perform an entire Aggro set back home and may even have a few surprises,” shares Jesse Wagner, the leader of the pack. The Aggrolites are Jesse Wagner (vocals, lead guitar), Brian Dixon (rhythm guitar), Roger Rivas (organ), Korey Horn (drums) and Jeff Roffredo (bass). Formed in late 2002, they have toured with the likes of Social Distortion, Rancid, Madness, 311, Dropkick Murphys, The Skatalites, The Aquabats and Hepcat. IN LOVING MEMORY OF SKA PIONEER JOHNNY MOORE
|
Johnny Moore, a trumpeter and founding member of the pioneering Jamaican ska and reggae band The Skatalites, has died of cancer at age 70.
Moore died at a friend's house after being released from the hospital following cancer treatment last week, music promoter Herbie Miller said.
Moore helped form the band in 1964 along with saxophonists Tommy McCook and Roland Alphonso and trombonist Don Drummond.
"He was the most creative of the trumpeters from the ska period," Miller said. "He was always willing to try different things."
During the first 14 months the band was together, it transformed jazz, movie themes and other genres of music with ska style.
It broke up in the 1960s, but regrouped in New York two decades later. Two of their albums, Hip Bop Ska and Greetings from Skamania, were nominated for Grammy awards in the 1990s
Mr. Moore, Thank you for your music and may you rest in peace.

FRANZISKA : : FRNZSK - The New Sound Of Franziska (2007)
Franziska’s new sound, a perfect mix of roots and dancehall atmospheres, represents the best of Jamaican music Made in Italy, going from melodic moments and tighter roots rhythms to raggamuffin vocals, creating a true dancehall mood. During the 10-year existence of the band, their sound eveolved just like their genre had evolved in the broader timeline of musical history. Going from ska to rocksteady, Franziska have now reached their own, definitive form of reggae. It has clear allusions to the roots and traditions of this sound, but is nontheless aware of contemporary foreign influences, coming from Germany, the United States, and Jamaica itself.
The current line-up has created a unique and personal sound which is closer to international rather than Italian standards. With the addition of new member Roddy Labonte', Franziska have created a sound which no one else in Italy proposes, but which is getting a lot of attention and airplay from international radio and television networks. Born in the Seychelles, Roddy grew up in a rasta community, assimilating its culture and learning jamaican patois language. Franziska's new formation has an international feel and their sound is now complete: their show is entertaining, fascinating and dynamic, going from melodic moments and tighter roots rhythms to raggamuffin vocals, creating a true dancehall mood.

Half Pint has enjoyed a long history of success dating back to the early 1980's. He was the first major artist produced by Prince Jammy (later King Jammy), and together they helped establish a lighter, more relaxed, more melodic approach to dancehall that made for an easy transition into the digital ragga era. His first big hit "Winsome" was later covered by the Rolling Stones in 1986 (under the new title "Too Rude"). Many hits followed: "Money Man Skank," "One in a Million," "One Big Family," "Pouchie Lou," the socially conscious "Mr. Landlord," and the all-time dancehall classic "Level the Vibes." The huge hit "Substitute Lover" came in 1992, and in 1996 the rock group Sublime covered another Half Pint classic, "Loving."
British female pop/R&B star. Estelle, has recorded a new hit cover of Pint's "Substitute Lover" on her new sophomore CD release, Shine, released on John Legend's Home School label distributed by Atlantic Records.
