NEWS FLASH! HELP APPLE GABRIEL
The Original Founder and Member of Israel Vibration - Renowned International Reggae Superstar Is In Need of Our Help

Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig

While it’s not uncommon to hear stories of a reggae star’s rise from the ghettos of Jamaica, few performers endured the struggle and have earned the success and international fame as Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig.  As an original member of the globally renowned harmony trio Israel Vibration,
Apple has recently fallen on hard times.  Apple has recently been rendered “homeless” .  He also now suffers from seizures due to living in an apartment for 4 years which, unbeknownst to him, was infested with mold bacteria that he was breathing into his lungs.

Apple was the original creator of their “anthemic” songs and the original creator of the “bionic” roots harmonies that is the signature sound of the Group, and he also wrote a seemingly infinite number of great songs, such as Lift Up Your Conscience, We A De Rasta, Why You So Craven, Oh Jan Solid Rock, Middle East, There is No End, Falling Angels, Mud Up and Rude Boy Shuffling, Friday Evening, Walk The Streets of Glory and much, much more.

Apple now needs your help and support.  We are accepting donations to assist our Rasta Brother in getting back on his feet.  There is so much more that Apple has in store for us musically.  Let’s show him how much we appreciate his contribution to us by giving back to him.
Please send donations to:

CHEF MAYRA'S Are You Getting Enough Alkaline Foods in Your Diet?
List of Alkaline Foods

'Your health depends on an alkaline environment, created by eating foods such as tomatoes, avocados and green vegetables...striking the optimum 80/20 balance and regulating your body's acid/alkaline chemistry through simple changes in diet can result in weight loss, increased stamina and strength, a stronger immune system and a greater sense of wellbeing.'
How did we become so out of balance?

After years of societal changes, millions of pounds of marketing spend and technological advances we, as a race, are now facing more dietary based health challenges than ever before.  It is no coincidence that the rapidly growing numbers of cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes correlate almost exactly with the rise in consumption of acid forming foods such as sugars, saturated fats, and white breads.  At the same time our consumption of fresh vegetables and essential fatty acids has decreased dramatically, making way for convenience and a generation hooked on sugary treats.

Becoming Alkaline

This is not as difficult or as technical as it sounds.  When we talk about eating alkaline foods or starting an alkaline diet we are referring to consuming those foods and drink which have an alkaline effect on the body.  This effect is based upon the ash residue that remains after our foods are consumed.  Some foods leave an acid ash, whereas others leave an alkaline ash. Conveniently for us, our bodies have been designed to categorize which foods leave which kind of ash into neat and easy to remember groups.

Of course, everybody is different - but most of us should aim to eat 75-80% alkaline foods and a maximum of 20-25% acid forming foods.

NJ PERFORMING ARTS CENTER SETS THE STAGE FOR JUDAH TRIBE THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH

NJ PERFORMING ARTS CENTER SETS THE STAGE FOR JUDAH TRIBE THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH

Brooklyn, NY - On Thursday September 4th the New Jersey Performing Arts Center will host the soul reggae
group Judah Tribe. The group, which has attracted much attention because of its fiery song Judgment, will bring
the controversy to New Jersey. Coming off a powerful performance at the Brooklyn Museum’s Target 1st Saturdays, which attracted well over 6,000 fans, Judah Tribe is set to make waves in New Jersey as well.

The performance set for 7:00pm, is part of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Sounds of the City sponsored by JP Morgan Chase. The New Jersey Performing Arts Center hosts world renown performers such as the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Patti Austin, Terence Blanchard, the Boston Pops, Savion Glover, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony, and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Judah Tribe is stimulating a debate over its soon to be released single Judgment. Written in tribute to Sean Bell,
killed by NYPD officers, Judgment features guitarist and father-in-law of Sean Bell, Les Paultre. The song has
garnered much attention and has caught the attention of the media and music industry insiders.

With a style that is reminiscent of the golden age of reggae music, Judah Tribe has honed its unique blend of soul and reggae. From the smooth love song Sometimes Love to the highly political Sleepwalker, Judah Tribe has
captured the imagination of its fans. Comparisons to reggae legends Steel Pulse, Peter Tosh, Third World and
Bob Marley are not uncommon.

Judah Tribe’s music has been heard inside the walls of the United Nations as well as at many prestigious events
such as the Brooklyn Museum‘s 1st Saturdays sponsored by Target. Judah Tribe has also been featured at the
Danny Simmon's Corridor Gallery, S.O.Bs and Galapagos in New York City.

Judah Tribe is led by accomplished singer/songwriter/guitarist Josh David, whom has played bass guitar for many internationally renown artists. These artists include Stevie Wonder, Common, Q-Tip, Rene Neufville, Joy Denalane and a host of others. Together with music director & keyboardist Eric “The General” Toussaint, Josh David has crafted a unique sound that is stirring lots of conversation.

With members stemming from Cameron, Africa, Jamaica, France, Haiti and the USA, Judah Tribe is developing a
truly international following. The full length debut album, New Day Dawnin, is due to be released in the Spring of 2009.

ROMAIN VIRGO COLLABORATES WITH PEPSI
Pepsi Cola Jamaica announces the introduction of a special edition label for Pepsi featuring 2007 Rising Stars winner Romain Virgo. When consumers purchase Pepsi with the new Romain Virgo label, they will have a chance to win great prizes in the beverage company's 2008 Rising Stars promotion. This is the first time that a Jamaican entertainer is featured on the label of Jamaica's most popular cola beverage.

Pepsi has been a sponsor of Rising Stars for four years and has always had a special promotion offer associated with the popular talent competition. However, this year consumers have the chance to win even more prizes. "It is the Jamaican public that ultimately decides who becomes the Digicel Rising Star each year, so, in return, we are pleased to be able to give them a chance to be winners themselves", said Denise Dixon, Head of Marketing for Pepsi Cola Jamaica.

From now until the end of September, by sending a text with the code found under the cap of Pepsi, hundreds of Jamaicans can win instant prizes of free Pepsi with the purchase of a KFC "Real Deal" meal and weekly prizes of tickets to Digicel Rising Stars live shows, Sony Ericsson phones, free call credit, cases of Pepsi and KFC Famous Bowl Combos.

In addition, those persons who collect Pepsi labels and drop them in the box provided at each KFC Restaurant will have a chance to win the Grand Prize. The "Be a Star" Grand Prize includes a chance to share the stage with the Digicel Rising Stars finalists live on TV, a Sony Ericsson W850 mobile phone, backstage pass to the finals show and the Mas Camp After Party. The Grand Prize winner will also chill in a top-class hotel and roll in a hot ride to the Digicel Rising Stars 2008 finals.

Romain Virgo, a son of Stepney District, St. Ann, first shot to national prominence while at Aabuthnot Gallimore High School, where he led his choir in a popular local television programme. So committed to his craft he is currently pursuing a degree at the Edna Manley School of the Perfornming Arts. Romain describes his singing personality as an old soul, as he loves the timeless melodies and compositions that many have regarded as oldies. He acknowledges that itts not so much how he sings but more what song he chooses to sing. "It is finding the right song that fits not only my personality but also my voice". Though not a song, Pepsi and Romain have found the right fit.

Released earlier this year, No Stress Express (Half Pint Music/Essential/Universal), is deemed to be a classic and is available now at all leading music retailers.  The hot tracks include “Unity” featuring Jack Maness from Long Beach Dub All Stars / Sublime, “Bad Boys” featuring Sizzla, “Just be Good” featuring R&B songbird Mikki Howard, ‘Mind Over Matter,” ”Suzie,” and "Children of His Majesty.”

Half Pint has enjoyed a long history of success dating back to the early 1980's. He was the first major artist produced by Prince Jammy (later King Jammy), and together they helped establish a lighter, more relaxed, more melodic approach to dancehall that made for an easy transition into the digital ragga era. His first big hit "Winsome" was later covered by the Rolling Stones in 1986 (under the new title "Too Rude"). Many hits followed: "Money Man Skank," "One in a Million," "One Big Family," "Pouchie Lou," the socially conscious "Mr. Landlord," and the all-time dancehall classic "Level the Vibes." The huge hit "Substitute Lover" came in 1992, and in 1996 the rock group Sublime covered another Half Pint classic, "Loving."

British female pop/R&B star. Estelle, has recorded a new hit cover of Pint's "Substitute Lover" on her new sophomore CD release, Shine, released on John Legend's Home School label distributed by Atlantic Records.  Look for a remix with Estelle featuring Half Pint for the cover version to be released soon.

Give us the grace to live
with each other in peace and harmony.
May we always bear with one another's weaknesses
and grow from each other's strengths.
help us to forgive one another's failings
and grant us patience, kindness, cheerfulness
and the spirit of placing the well-being
of one another ahead of self.

May the love that brought us together
grow and mature with each passing year.
Bring us both ever closer to You
through our love for each other.
Let our love grow to perfection.

AMEN.
