Thought for the Day

Like butter hidden in milk,
wisdom dwells in all living beings.
With the mind as the churning rod,
one should ever churn out
wisdom from within oneself.

~ Brahma-Bindu-Upanishad
(quote found in Yoga Gems edited by Georg Feuerstein)

Message from Karen
Dear friends,

Living from a peaceful center requires commitment and courage to stay present, especially in the face of bad news.  Even if the bad news doesn't seem to affect one directly, we are all connected energetically.  Whether it's the price of oil or the stock market or home mortgages or the most important presidential election, we are all connected.  What affects you also affects me and so on.

I listen to NPR when I'm driving (I love NPR!)  I drive a lot of short trips during the day so I listen to a lot of NPR.  This where I get my news.  Sometimes, I have to turn it off.  It's too much.  Meanwhile, the fall leaves are still falling.  Fall in New England is something to behold (ok, I bet it's fabulous where you are too!)  When I go outside for a walk or just to sit in the sun, I have the sensation that this is the real deal.  The bad news is still happening, but is it really happening everywhere to everyone?  And in the cycles of time, hasn't this happened before?

Yes, bad things are happening.  And good things are happening too.  My husband reminded me that in the mortgage crisis that has affected so many people, if the number of foreclosures is 6% (which is probably way too high) then 94% of homewners are still paying their mortgages and doing ok.  Without getting in over my head here, it's about perspective.

And in 9 days time, we'll elect a new president.  Until then, watch your breath.  Be present.  Notice changes in energy, yours and the energy around you.  Take time out to restore your energy.  Breathe, relax...  Discover mantra meditation (www.easwaran.org) and use your mantra as a screensaver for your mind.  It can change the way you feel.

It's been months since the last newsletter so I have made up for it with this one - at least with things to do!  Classes, workshops, new spaces to check out, shopping including tee-shirts and Yoga for Self-Care workshop (just what you need!)

Peace and love, Karen

Yoga Heals Us Tee-Shirts
Yoginis,

Many of you have been asking for Yoga Heals Us tee-shirts.  I will be ordering more at the end of next week.  Pre-order to get your size and color preference for long or short sleeve tee-shirts.

I will be ordering Anvil 478 in long sleeve in multiple colors.  This is a looser style.  If you want the Anvil 1444 or Bella 5001 long sleeve this is a special order for you, non-returnable.  (Both of these styles are more fitted.  The Anvil is shorter than the Bella.)  If you have ordered these in the past, you know your size and style preference.  Email me if you're not sure.  (Take a look at these at www.thecorporatechoice.com)

You can also order short sleeve tees.  The V-neck style that some of you like so much is Anvil 652.  The other short sleeve style is Gildan G2000L.  This one comes in chocolate brown which is really nice!  (Please check the website for color choices.  Some colors are available in one style and not the other.)

The colors and size specifications are on the www.thecorporatechoice.com link pages.  If you see something else at www.thecorporatechoice.com that you want to order with the Yoga Heals Us logo, you can order that too, at your own risk.  No refunds on special orders.  If you plan to pre-order, please email your order to me by October 30th
