Expect A Miracle
One of my client's said to me this week ~ “I feel so sad. I always get like this around the Christmas holidays. I don't get it. Everything else in my life is going pretty well. What’s wrong with me?” I said, "There is nothing wrong with you. You are not alone. This feeling will pass. In the meantime, expect and wish for a miracle to happen. Then wait, be alert and it will happen."

We need to remember, like we did when we were children, what it is like to be enchanted. Can you remember playing with your friends and acting like super heroes? Can you remember, believing the tooth fairy came while you slept? When we expect a miracle to happen, we feel innocence. We do not judge ourselves, our life and others. We simply love. I am very fortunate for I was taught to believe in the extraordinary. I love that my mother still writes, "Love, Santa" on my Christmas gifts. I love that all my good friends believe in miracles. For every time, I slip into my own fog, all I need to do is wish for a miracle and guess what happens? I will receive a surprise gift in the mail, an unexpected call from a distant friend or a visit from the most beautiful cardinal in my bird feeder. I encourage you to believe in Miracles.

All it requires is a change in our perceptions. A change in how we think. A change from negative to positive.

I am delighted to offer a new meeting, called The Miracle Meeting. It will begin next Tuesday night at 6:30pm at my office. There will be no charge ~ only a love donation. If you would like to learn more about miracles, meet like minded friends and simply experience some fun, then, please reserve your seat soon ~ space is limited.

Many people suffer from depression around the winter holidays. As a result, they may drink too much, overeat, and spend money they don’t really have in an effort to avoid feelings of sadness, depression and loneliness.

What is it about the holiday season that puts people into such a funk? It is the illusion that we should be "Merry" and full of cheer. What we’re supposed to think and feel on holidays is often not the reality of what we actually think and feel. Consequently, this dissonance is what causes us to feel disappointed. The commercial industry has us convinced we're supposed to be like miniature elves running around with inexhaustible energy. It would be refreshing if we simply felt ~ peace.

Holidays bring up unresolved issues of family. You may not even realize it. Early experiences of not feeling cared about get triggered. As a result, during the holidays, one can feel emotionally, spiritually and physically deprived.

Feelings of disappointment, emptiness and unresolved conflict can all lead to depression. Try to follow these basic suggestions for good health:

...eat right (3 healthy meals!)
...drink lots of water
... get plenty of rest
...exercise regularly
...pray and meditate

Here are some suggestions to manage your feelings during this time of year:

1. Allow yourself to feel lonely, sad or melancholy and try not to judge them ~ these are normal feelings, particularly at holiday times
2. Talk about your feelings to a trusted friend or a counselor, if the depression becomes too overwhelming
3. Spend time nurturing yourself and doing things that make you feel good about yourself
4. Try not to isolate yourself during this time of year, because connecting with others can sometimes relieve depression
5. Rethink how you view and approach the holidays
6. Write down everything that you are grateful for
7. Focus on the present and think positively
8. Forget about what is suppose to happen and adjust your expectations
9. Let go of the past and create new or different ways to celebrate
10. Do something for someone else
11. Volunteer your time to a good cause
12. Enjoy activities that are free
13. Spend time with people who care about you
14. Contact someone with whom you have lost touch
15. Relax

Remember to remind yourself of what is truly important to you - everyday! A gesture of kindness? A child's smiling face? Your animal purring? Enjoying the company of a good friend?

I am hosting a variety of life-enriching meetings this month: Love & Tarot this Sunday; The Miracle Meeting next Monday night; Heal Yourself on Wednesday night and Loving the Life You Live next Sunday night. Wishing all of you miracles to come, heaven in your heart and angels in your midst.
