Advice for New Year's Resolutions
Every new year - most of us are inspired to create a list of resolutions. The list represents personal, physical and professional changes or improvements we want in life. The beginning of a year is the symbolic new start in our lives. However, we usually take this new-found enthusiasm too far. We plan to change everything we don't like in our lives and we are optimistic about what the future holds. Maybe a little too optimistic.

Previous resolution lists have included:

* Lose 10 pounds
* Learn to speak Italian
* Travel to Japan
* Obtain 10 consulting gigs
* Write a published article
* Write a book
* Create beautiful Angel cards with Roses to inspire
* Finish PhD program in Holistic Ministry
* Volunteer at hospital to care for border babies
* Learn how to ski
* Get manicures more often
*Join New York Sports Club and work out everyday!
*Exercise outside 5x week

The bizarre thing about resolutions is that they never work. We never end up accomplishing our goals. By mid-February, we not only forgot our super hero list, we have, for some odd reason, gone in the opposite direction. I usually gain weight, bite my nails, choose to stay under the covers than "ski" and continue to look at all the books I need to read in order to complete my PhD.

Like most people, my resolutions are never or barely adhered to. Why is it so hard to change our lives for the positive? I believe this is somewhat psychological. The simple fact of making a list makes people want to rebel and break the rules; even if they are self-made.

If the list we make will be rebelled against , then why don't we make lists in the opposite manner? My New Year resolution list for this year is as follows:

* I will gain 10 pounds
* Forget that I wanted to learn how to speak Italian
* Clutter my home with as much stuff I don't need
* Be lazy and do absolutely nothing all day long for weeks...months...perhaps, the entire year!
* Add to the world's problems
* Bite my nails all day long and develop a new bad habit

With a list like this I will find myself in a win-win situation. If I rebel against the list then I will have improved my life. If I gain the weight, forget to learn a language and add to and develop new problems, then I have finally found a way to accomplish my New Year resolution list! So, my suggestion to you is eat as much as you want, don't exercise, continue your addictions and by the end of the year, you will be very happy with yourself for you will FINALLY have accomplished your new year's resolutions! So, Relax - there is nothing you need to do this year but be yourself. And, I will be more than happy to offer you my support during this year to make sure you accomplish your new year's resolutions perfectly!

May all of you be blessed with peace in your heart, prosperity and abundance inside/out, and most of all, pure love in all your relationships to offer you kindness, gentleness, support and fun.

Warmest Wishes for a very Happy New Year!
