MRS. GOUNDO'S DAUGHTER SCREENS AT THE NEW YORK HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
WMM is pleased to announce the New York Premiere of MRS. GOUNDO'S DAUGHTER at the New York Human Rights Watch International Film Festival (June 11-25). This film is a deeply personal account of one Malian mother's determination to navigate a bureaucratic U.S. immigration system and cultural traditions of female clitoral excision to do what is best for her daughter.
Also a congratulations to WMM Production Assistance filmmaker Anne Aghion, this year's winner of the Human Rights Watch Nestor Almendros Award. Aghion's MY NEIGHBOR, MY KILLER will premiere in New York at the fest. Fifteen years after the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, this powerful film asks, "When peace comes, how do you make it right again?" This film is part of the award-winning Gacaca Justice in Rwanda Film series, produced through the WMM PA Program. For a full schedule and tickets, visit here.
