Glenn Comtois - Final Day Aug 9
Glen Comtois and his exhibition have been quite popular. He did a Salon and was asked by Ghada Homoud, an architectural instructor for Tarrant County Collge, to do a second Salon for her students. You saw Slue in "The Dallas Morning News: Guide, July 24, 2009." The reporter chose to feature Glenn's art in the article on New Texas Talent competition by Craighead Green gallery.
If you have not yet made it to this exhibit, you have through August 9. You have opportunities outside of normal gallery hours: Starting Sunday, August 2 we will be hosting accoustic jam sessions starting at 3 and the gallery will be open by 2. The jam will take place in the east gallery, so the south and north galleries with Glenn's work will be open to you during the jam.
Monday and Thursday nights, the gallery is technically closed and the front door is locked for security but during the summer I'm in the classroom painting and am always delighted to open the gallery.

Sunset Sopapillas
THE Magazine features local artists in their offices and hosts a reception on First Thursday. I brought dessert and many requested the recipe, so here it is - my adaptation of another recipe. When you visit Bishop Arts on First Thursday, be sure to come around the corner to 408 W. Eighth Street to THE.
2 packages crescent roll dough (or sheets) 1 cups sugar (filling) 1/2 cup sugar (topping) 2 packages cream cheese 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. cinammon 1 stick of butter orange marmalade craisins
preheat oven to 350 degrees spread 1 package of roll dough on 9" x 13" ungreased pan beat cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar & vanilla until creamy spread mixture on dough spread on orange marmalade sprinkle on craisins top with remaining package of dough (I cut in strips - first vertically, then horizontally - to create a latice pattern) melt butter, combine with cinammon and 1/2 cup sugar - then pour over bake for 30-35 minutes serve hot or cold This is based on a recipe called Cream Cheese Sopapillas. I just added the marmalade and craisins.
