Carmen Linares Interview

"Flamenco is the best music that exists in the world"
by Juanjo Castillo

Carmen Linares is considered the best cantaora (female flamenco singer) at present. The place where she expresses her artistry best is on the stage. She has just shown this in Suma Flamenca. Within the framework of this festival, she has unveiled a new show, "Falla, Lorca y Cante Jondo". It is a stage performance that shifts from symphonic to pure, always with some deep flamenco roots. ...

Tomatito and Michel Camilo in the Spanish sun

By JUAN VERGILLOS

Faith in love is whats at stake throughout this Spain Again. And in the human condition. In friendship. The recording is a return trip. Tomatito looks to the Mediterranean luminosity he grew up with. The epic guitarist turns intimist, lyrical. The three have inhabited other regions. This duet record features love and believing in your partner. That which civilized society has lost and longs to rediscover. Its an adventure, another kind of epic story, an internal one. That which James Joyce or Kafka narrated in their intermediate stages on the way to hell. ...
