Mambo and Salsa dancers are being sought to participate in the filming of "La Epoca," a national television documentary-film on Latin music, Afro-Cuban rhythms and dance during the hey-day of the Palladium-era and its evolution to present day. The film breaks down the barriers of the controversy behind who the originator of the Mambo rhythm was and also the controversy behind "Dancing on 1" vs. "Dancing on 2." Now, producers are preparing to film in Asheville, NC and dancers from NC, SC, VA and GA are urged to participate in the public filming during the month of March. Feeding People Through Music - Ongoing Food Drive at Grey Eagle, The Orange Peel, Hannah Flannagan's - In an effort to combat the rising rate of Hunger in America, Panic Fans for Food has been engaging music fans for the last 8 years to bring canned goods and money with them to Widespread Panic concerts all over the country for the last 8 years. The cause has come home to roost in Asheville with ongoing food drives at the Grey Eagle, The Orange Peel, Hannah Flannagan's. As we learn to embody these rhythms we give expression to the physical energy that moves and defines us. Very often we are disconnected from an awareness of who we are and how we are moving. This workshop creates pathways of awareness that connect us to our own energy. It is through this awareness that we find freedom in being present to where we are and where we are going.  Feb 23-24 (Saturday-Sunday) TANGO ...Intro To Argentine Tango Weekend 2pm-6pm both days 2p-5p class, 5p-6p supervised practica at Asheville Arts Center, 308 Merrimon Ave., Asheville. Come join instructors Karen Jaffe (Asheville) and Daniel Arredondo (Charlotte) for an introductory course in this compelling dance! Appropriate for the new beginner or dancers with some experience in tango, who want a refresher in the basic foundations of the dance. We will cover fundamentals of the embrace, walking, ochos, molinete, the cross, and musicality. This course is designed to get people out on the floor, enjoying the dance, preparing them also for continued study. Full weekend $80 individual, $150/couple.
