Late January 2008
from Jill Badonsky

Hi,
These are For You - I Picked Them Myself

Happy MLK day to you.
This is just a quick hello with a few announcements, some invitations and those crazy faces on the left there, that I picked from my Garden of Weird Heads.  I tried to pick their brain, but all they said back was HAAHG! .. over and over. The middle one sounds like Woody Woodpecker.

** We are changing newsletter servers because we have happily grown too big for this one - so you will be receiving a confirmation email in the next few days. If you do not respond, sadly you will be lost from the Muse Kingdom :---( Please excuse our inconvenience but we don't want to lose you, so respond according to cyber directions you receive). As a REWARD for signing up anew, you will receive a complimentary link to a guided meditation that will take you on a musical and voice-led journey to the inside of a Muse's Kitchen Cabinet... and you don't want to miss that do you? Find out what nourishes the entities that nourish our inspiration. And find out what is in their specially marked boxes of LIFE cereal.

The Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching training that begins January 30th is almost full. If you are interested email info@themuseisin.com . See other events over there on the right. ---->

Jill's Cat on Kaizen-Mews Creativity Coaching
from Mambo, the cat

Monster drills. I call them monster drills. People sometimes think that we cats are possessed or that we ate a bad chicken part when we  act like we are spastically afraid of either something that's not there or of you, our familiar person. We fluff up then run insanely through the house knocking things over seemingly unprovoked. Humans, this is a drill for when dogs, vacuums, or large plants come through the house. It's practice ... one small spasm at a time.. very Kaizen. It's more progressed than you might think.

And sometimes when it looks like we are napping (which is most of the time), we practice monster drills in our head. You may think this is simply twitching-while-dreaming.. NO, it's practice in the form of visualizing or as we say in Kaizen-Mews Creativity Coaching, "mind sculpting." Practice is one of the keys to success, confidence and a prevailing species. What small thing can you be practicing- even if you are just going over the small steps and the way they feel -in your head?

Okay, that's all. I'm out of here. FLUFF and whoooooooosh

Congratulations to Paula Graham in PA pwg@zoominternet.net and Elizabeth Clontz in N.C. wyldavia@yahoo.com - Two newly certified Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaches. YAAY!
Elizabeth's KMCC description:
Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching is a process of gently yet powerfully moving through blocks of overwhelm, perfectionism, procrastination and the like that have nestled between you and your creative dreams. We’ll free the strength and energy these blocks now hold captive and redirect them toward creating what you love.  AND we’ll do so in ways that honor your whole being - your intuition, your body’s wisdom, your inner artist child’s need for play, and your practical side. I am creating the most prolifically ever  - in my creative work and in my life. I would love to work with you so can truly DELIGHT in your creative self.

THE AWE-MANAC: A Daily Dose of Wonder by Jill Badonsky debuts. Bring Jill to your neighborhood for an Awe-full event.. hmm.. I'd better talk to the marketing department about that one. How about an Awe-some Event?

Creativity Tip
Just keep going through the imperfection, the cursing, the demons, the funny looks, the desire to nap, the flying monkeys, the echos of people saying you're not the one, the longing for rut-like behavior, the desire to avoid the fears, the false starts, the second-thoughts, the seventeenth thoughts.. just keep with it. These impulses are not your weaknesses.. they are the nature of the creative process. Decide NOT to be one of the 85% who give up on the process as these hurdles arise. Little steps give you confidence and self respect. Practice "success drills"... see someone reading your work and benefiting, someone viewing your work and being deeply inspired, someone appreciating that you kept going because now they are inspired to keep going to. See it, believe it, just keep going. Say it to yourself "Just keep going." If you need to see how someone kept going despite an impossible situation go see the movie, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

TAKE 40% off your next unrealistic expectation!!!!

Put Yourself in Motion

Lower your expectations by 40% in your next creative endeavor (which includes positive creative changes like weight loss, wellness and being less cranky as well as art, writing and music) and notice how much easier it is to get started. Once you've started, practiced, and stayed with it you can start shooting for excellence. If you are a perfectionist you may not be starting at all because you're expecting too much. Get over it. Doing SOMETHING.. even if it's flawed, imperfect or downright disgusting ... is better than a perfect nothing. When you have something.. it can be improved on. When you have nothing... it create a vacuum for regret. Lower results, add compassion, and begin.
