THE TOOTS FOUNDATION PROVIDES MUCH NEEDED HELP
|
|
The Toots Foundation has donated Two Million Jamaican Dollars to aid local charities and launch its activities in Jamaica with the first cheque presentation made on December 19, 2008 to his childhood school May Pen Primary where its principal Mrs. Nicholson was pleased to accept the contribution from former student and international music icon Frederick Toots Hibbert.
Having grown from the youngest of 7 children raised in May Pen, Jamaica to an internationally beloved recording star, Toots has never forgotten his roots. The Foundation will raise money for the benefit of underprivileged children throughout the world but primarily in Jamaica.
The Toots Foundation is a non-profit corporation which has received exempt status pursuant to IRS Code Section 501(C)(3). The Foundation seeks to join with similar philanthropic organizations with similar charitable goals to avoid duplication of services and coordinate efforts to remediate common problems.
Other charitable institutions and organizations receiving gifts from the Toots Foundation were the Jamaica Cancer Society, Bustamante Children’s Hospital, Victoria Jubilee Hospital and the Salvation Army School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Frederick 'Toots' Hibbert pledges continued support to the Jamaica Cancer Society as he donates US$5,000 (J$400,000) to the institution on December 16. The photo captured the moment with Mrs. Carol Blair Administrative Director and Mr. Michael Leslie Accounting Manager of the Jamaica Cancer Society.
"It is a wonderful surprise for us to receive this unexpected gift from the Toots Foundation and an encouragement to continue our work knowing that there are those out there who care and will help us to help others", said Principal Iyeke Erharuyi of the Salvation Army School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The donation will be used to purchase a much needed Braille laser printer and other equipment. Both Bustamante and Victoria Jubilee/KPH will utilize their donation to purchase critical equipment, beds and other essentials.
The Toots, respected as a world class artiste and musician with a large, enthusiastic and loyal international fan base, will promote major fundraising [concerts to raise money for the foundation and donate $1.00 from each ticket sold on his U.S. concerts. Anyone who has ever experienced Toots proclaiming "tonight we are all family" understands the depth of Toots commitment to helping those in need.
According to Toots, the Foundation will increase activities in Jamaica in 2009 with special fundraising concerts planned and assistance to more worthwhile causes and I encourage all the entertainers to get involved with helping others. The Toots Foundation is committed to working with key organizations focused on enabling and encouraging youth to take responsibility for themselves and providing assistance through education and skills trailing to improve their lives and their communities.
If you would like to contribute to this worthy cause, please send check or money order for tax deductible donation to:

SCORCHA : : RASTAMAN WAY
|
The song titled RASTA MAN WAY was written to describe the beliefs and ways of the Rastaman. The first stanza speaks about the fact that with the Lord Father as a guide there is no reason to hide anything that one does for all your actions should be good and pure. The true Rastaman walks with love in his heart for all humanity and a positive attitude. The rhythm of the song carries the same upbeat feeling and message of the lyrics.
The second stanza explains that the love and belief in JAH that a Rastaman carries in his heart will always bring a smile to his face. When he is confronted by evil his sturdy beliefs will carry him through and be his protection.
The third and forth stanzas preach to the wicked people to watch their ways and to try and learn from the ways of the bible and the Rastaman. All people should try to live their life in the positive ways of the Rastaman.

KABBALIST : : DOWN IN JAMAICA
|
|
site to purchase : itunes or www.15musicgroup.com
Not even lions and tigers can stop this Reggae voice on the scene… no, its not luck , but one that is destined to be a legend.. A man of superb talent has risen like a star…some would say, its Jah will. Kabbalist has thrown his hat in the race, with a no-doubt approach that says, "I'm here to stay".
The singer who gave us "Catwalk" and "Down In Jamaica" on his upcoming album, is back at it, and even better than before. His upcoming album "Down In Jamaica", is currently being distributed by 15 Seconds Music Group.Down In Jamaica" is 'a simple story illustrating reality and life lessons'. The album is suitably titled, as each song is a lesson from life. With analytical lyrics embracing Rasta teachings and his heart felt delivery and compelling voice ,Kabbalist has been winning fans over.
Boasting 12 original tracks and one track, produced by the multi-faceted Dean Fraser, "Down In Jamaica" is a respectable achievement for this artist. No wonder Kabbalist's music is always a potpourri of musical progressions, melodies and not to mention the soulful voice that he has become known for.
The title track, Down In Jamaica, written by Kabbalist , featuring Dean Fraser cautions us to 'read between the lines'. Kabbalist's "Smiling Faces" is the song that meets every woman needs, with an excellent arrangement. The anthemic "Blessed" offers a stamp of approval, with rhythm. And then Gregory Isaac helps to bring us home to "Rumours 09", a real groove-finder capped off by a melodious chorus. Sold! Kabbalist, gifted and bold!

DREDI : : IT'S A DREDI DANCE PARTY
|
|
The group has been together in one form or another since the early days of 1989. What started as a pick up pit band for children's theater became an experiment in reggae rhythms mixing it up with good old rock. The original name was "InI", but we changed it to Dredi in 1991. We have been a six piece outfit as well as a trio, playing along with some very funky drum machine beats, and everything in between. We have played from the hills of Western Massachusetts, to the beaches of Key West, Florida. Founded by frontman, Noël Noël, Dredi has been fueled and formed by scores of extremely talented musicians over the years. Guitar player and singer, Bryan House, joined up in 1992, and has been an important aspect of the Dredi experience ever since, adding songwriting, vocals, guitar, soundscapes and bass(when needed). We believe that "Now is the time!" The time to get out in the street and make yourself be heard. This is the countdown. We play music with a message. Sometimes it's just to loosen up and party; other times, it's a bit more serious, but it is always inclusive...no-one is left out of the mix. We invite all people, regardless of race, creed, or sexual preference to "move your feet and dance!"
Our CD was released in Feb. of 2000, but we are rereleasing it this year.
Our CD can be purchased at www.myspace.com/dredimusic <http://www.myspace.com/dredimusic>
