Mandi's Story may inspire you to give Shaklee another look for how you can give health and hope to others around you...

I got started with Shaklee through my own personal struggles with health. I was living and being in Varanasi, India during this past year when I acquired a parasite (the illness is called Giardia). I was rushed to Indian hospitals several times during this sickness, being misdiagnosed (by Indian and American doctors), and put on a massive amount of unnatural medicines.

I had this sickness for 3 months and by the end of it my body (especially my digestive system) had become so weak and I had lost several pounds because I could barely eat. Thanks to the sweet neighborhood Ayurvedic doctor I finally made it back to the States. When I arrived in California my traveler friends soon knew what I had. So, I bought medicine for Giardia, which is basically a poison for the body to flush out the parasite, in hopes to finally feel healthy again (a concept that seemed like a distant dream by that point).

Although tests showed that my parasite (who my mother later affectionately named Twiggy) was destroyed, my digestive system was in a state of crisis. My body was not digesting properly, not absorbing the nutrients from the food I ate, and not eliminating waste properly...which resulted in an overload of toxin buildup, chronic weakness, and daily pain. The doctors diagnosed me with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and told me that no cure existed. I was devastated and decided not to believe them. So, I began my search into the natural health world for a solution. I tried many different types of probiotics, supplements, and weird home remedies, but they had minimal positive effects on my state of health.

After months of these experiments I arrived in Asheville, NC to start my third year of college-exhausted and losing hope. It was then that I met my dear friend and Shaklee sponsor, Katie. It was my first genuine deep connection and I was so happy to share with someone who valued the same things I did.

Katie soon found out about my severe health issues and was determined to support and help me in a journey towards better health. She told me about Shaklee and I was so impressed with the company that I decided to try their products hoping they would be different. And they were! Within a week I was experiencing better digestion, more energy, and improved waste elimination (only taking Shaklee's prebiotic complex, probiotics, and digestive enzymes...all products which I had tried from other companies previously).

When I started experiencing the difference of Shaklee I knew that I wanted to do something with it. Nia Abdallah is the 2004 Olympic silver medalist and the first American woman to officially receive a medal in taekwondo since it became an official Olympic event in 2000.

Nia was five years old when she became fascinated with the games and gymnastic competitions on television. When she was nine, her father introduced her to taekwondo, and she was hooked.
