Groundation Annual Bob Marley Tribute Tour With Special Guests Leroy ”Horsemouth” Wallace On Drums And Will Bernard On Guitar Wednesday Feb 11 Harlow's, 2708 J St, Sacramento, CA Doors 8:30/Showtime 9:30 Ticket $20 adv 21 and up
February is Bob Marley Birthday month around the globe and it is no different right here in Sacramento as Groundation brings the Bob Marley Tribute Tour to Harlows on Wednesday, February 11. The tour features special guests, LeRoy “Horsemouth” Wallace on drums and Will Bernard on guitar.
Advance tickets are available in advance at http://www.renegadeshows.com, tickets.com, jambasetickets.com and harlows.com or at The Beat Record Store. Promoter, Renegade Productions is also accepting phone orders by calling their office at 530-583-2801.
It is said that if you do not know your past then you can not know your future; well Groundation knows its past, and they're stepping into the future. Groundation is bringing classic Roots reggae music into the serious times of the 21st century. And what music is more pertinent than that of the musical prophet Robert Nesta “Bob” Marley (February 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981)? 2009 will be the ninth consecutive year that Groundation has taken time from their formidable international touring schedule to pay homage to the man who changed the world with his message and his music. Drawing from the depths of Bob Marley & The Wailers expansive catalogue, Groundation takes Marley’s songs and infuses them with their incomparable blend of high-energy jazz-based improvisation, creating wholly unique versions of timeless classics. Joining Groundation on this tour will be legends Will Bernard (Dr. Lonnie Smith, Stanton Moore Trio, 2008 Grammy nominee for Best Jazz Album Party Hats) and Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace (The Wailers, Burning Spear, star of cult film Rockers). Bernard is the most ubiquitous guitarist in the modern jazz/jam world’s star-studded field, having toured with everyone from Medeski Martin & Wood to The Coup. Wallace is Reggae music’s most prolific drummer, serving as the foundation of the creation of the one-drop rhythm which was the backbone of Marley’s sound. Bernard and Wallace also appeared on Groundation’s recent side-release Rockamovya (released in June 2008), which has been met with acclaim the world over. All told, with eleven accomplished artists on stage, and Groundation’s commitment to preserving and furthering the intrinsic elements of Marley’s music, there is simply no better chance to see Marley’s music in today’s world. For more information, contact Harlows at 916/441-4693, or Renegade Productions at 530-583-2801.

NZ'S 'FAT FREDDY'S DROP' NEW ALBUM IN '09!
|
|
From the underground to the higher-ground, Fat Freddy’s Drop is an unstoppable hi-tek soul monster doing it for the love of music. First and foremost a live collective, no two Freddy’s gigs are ever the same. The hypnotic live jam is the essence for Freddy’s hybrid of dub/reggae, soul, funk, hip-hop and techno, marinated in jazz and served on Island Time. Established in 1999, Freddy’s watershed year was 2005 when the bros dropped their debut full-length album, Based On A True Story. The album re-wrote musical history and won a raft of awards at home and unleashed Freddy’s slow burning voodoo worldwide. In early 2009, after more than three solid years road testing songs on tours across the seven seas, and some intense studio lockdown, Fat Freddy’s Drop is ready to pull the catch and release their second studio album, 'Big BW'. It’s been a fantastic voyage so far for the midnight marauders representing Aotearoa/NZ - the land of the long white cloud - and there’s plenty more jams and paua won tons to follow. Freddy’s family of musicians evolved in Wellington through multitude of musical incarnations, from funk jam bands, reggae sound systems, jazz improvisation cliques to live hi-tek soul/dub experiments.

IYARA : : "RICH WI FI RICH"
|
|
One month after the debut of his latest music video "Rich Wi Fi Rich", emerging dancehall artiste Iyara is ready to set things off on a larger scale. The video which also features Alliance members Bounty Killa and Movada took centre stage during its debut on the highly rated Entertainment Report, TV J (Jamaica) on Dec 12, 2008. The song speaks on the desired accumulation of wealth that is on the minds and in the dreams of most youths growing up in the inner cities. Yet, the skillfulness of the writer (Iyara) showed the more positive side to acquire such riches. In an energetic display of people lavishing in lots of dollars, Iyara explains "To get rich wi still nah try nothing funny", stating that theft, underhanded dealings or illegal activities does not have to be the route to success for inner city communities. The production quality of the video doubled with a steady lyrical delivery from Iyara definitely gives the single a cutting edge as a potential hit record.
Born in Portland of a community by the name of belvue in 1984 Eric "Iyara" Sommers moved to Kingston to pursue his music career, he decided he wanted to become an entertainer after listening to his influences Bounty Killer and Sizzla to name a few he realized he also had the talent and with his family and friends constantly encouraging him he decided to make his move and pursue his dream.
Voicing for the first time in the studio of Fusions, new talented producer Dutty Coolie produced the first single entitled "Musical Warfare", which is a plead for peace in the music business among the artists, the track was recorded on the Fully Tugs Label. A music video has also been in rotation for the single and has been doing fairly well.
He has previously performed at the Edna Manley school of Arts, several local venues as well as a tour in Costa Rica. The exposure paved the way for him to be noticed by Bounty Killer's nephew Advance, Iyara was officially introduced to Alliances Headliner and was later then officially signed to the entertainment group.
The official signing to the Alliance is undoubtedly one of his greatest achievements to date, but his greatest motivation has been the death of his musical partner and very good friend blue chips who was killed by the police in 2006, it made him realize that life is short and the young talent is wasting no time climbing to higher heights and is determined to reach the top through hard work and dedication.

AN EVENING PRAYER
By: c. maud battersby source: worldprayers.org
If I have wounded any soul today, If I have caused one foot to go astray, If I have walked in my own will full way - Good Lord, forgive!
If I have uttered idle words or vain, If I have turned aside from want or pain, Lest I myself should suffer through the strain - Good Lord, forgive!
If I have craved for joys that are not mine, If I have let my wayward heart repine, Dwelling on things of earth, not things divine - Good Lord, forgive!
If I have been perverse, or hard, or cold, If I have longed for shelter in Thy fold, When Thou has given me some part to hold - Good Lord, forgive.
Forgive the sins I have confessed to Thee, Forgive the secret sins I do not see, That which I know not, Father, teach Thou me - Help me to live.
