CHERINE HITS THE MILLION MARK!
c/o www.one876entertainment.com

Jamaican singer Cherine Anderson is charting new territory for female reggae singers from Jamaica. She is arguably the first ever female reggae singer to hit the Billboard Rock charts with her ‘Say Hey (I Love You)’ single with Michael Franti and Spearhead hitting the #48 spot on the rock chart recently. She also passed another landmark recently, and h as now performed in front of over a million people during her various performances worldwide.

“She has now performed in front of audiences that cumulatively add up to a million, given the stunning number of shows. She recently returned to Jamaica after a six month tour that took her to Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, France, UK, Germany, Ireland, Holland and the last eight weeks she was in North America. She is only 25 years-old so this is a phenomenal achievement,” Althea Burrell, publicist of JADE Promotions, told ONE876.
The song peaked at #1 on Billboard Heatseekers charts and has been steadily climbing other charts.

Currently, "Say Hey (I Love You)" is #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, #14 on the Digital Songs charts, #22 on
the Pop Songs chart and #43 on The Radio Songs chart. With her recent success with Franti and the Spearhead, Cherine Anderson is in rarefied air joining legends such as Diana King, Lady Saw and Millie Small who have made it to the upper reaches of the Billboard Hot 100 pop single chart. Diana King and Millie Small did it
as solo acts while Saw did it with Gwen Stefani and No Doubt on 'Underneath it All'.

Last week, Cherine continued to chart new ground for this generation of female singers when she appeared on the NBC Emmy winning programme, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she performed her hit, Say Hey (I Love You) with Michael Franti and Spearhead. "This is really an exciting time as we have been very busy promoting
"Say Hey". I also love the fact that this record was produced and recorded in Kingston, Jamaica, and has such mass appeal worldwide," Cherine said in a release.

She will be appearing on ER this Friday on TVJ. Cherine joins a list of Jamaican female singers who have hit the upper reaches of the Billboard chart that includes Diana King who was quite prolific in the
1990s as she charted four titles on the Hot 100, beginning with Shy Guy in 1995 which sold gold and hit number 13; Sasha in 2004, when she she teamed up with Sean Paul for a remake of I'm Still in Love With
You, which peaked at number 14; Marcia Griffiths who in 1989 took a dance remix of her 1982 recording of Electric Boogie all the way to number 51; Lady Saw who popped on Vitamin C's 1999 hit Smile which
sold gold and peaked at number 18, and then three years later, in 2002, Saw became the last Jamaican female recording artiste to hit the Top 10, as Underneath it All by No Doubt, peaked at number three.

Millie Small was the first to have hit the Billboard, when in 1964 her ska remake of Barbie Gaye's My Boy Lollipop peaked at number two. She later followed up with Sweet William which peaked at number 40.

CHEF MAYRA - SEXY, LEAN AND GREEN! Benefits of Watermelon
Think back to when you were a child and when during the summer months, the pinnacle of cookouts and family gatherings was always the cold juicy watermelon that was for desert.

When you were young, eating watermelon was about taste. Now that you're older, it's more than just taste that should inspire you to eat lots of watermelon each year when the season arises. It's because watermelons have tremendous health benefits that anyone who lives a healthy lifestyle should be determined to take advantage of every year. Let's take a closer look at some of these health benefits this fruit has to offer.

Health Benefit of Watermelons #1 Lycopene

Lycopene is an antioxidant found in most red colored fruits, with the exception of a few things such as strawberries. Scientific studies have shown that Lycopene reduces the risk of prostate cancer and heart disease in people. People who eat a diet high in lycopene are much less likely to suffer a heart attack then men who don't.

Health Benefit of Watermelons #2  Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is an important attribute to have in a healthy diet because it promotes chemicals in the brain that help people to cope with anxiety and panic. These are two psychological disorders that are on the rise in America today.

Health Benefit of Watermelons #3 Vitamin C

If you thought oranges were the only fruit that could provide you with Vitamin C, think again. Vitamin C is important to not only being healthy, but remaining attractive all your life. Vitamin C boosts the immune system so that you get sick less often and it also slows down aging and medical conditions such as cataract.

Health Benefit of Watermelons #4  Vitamin A

Vitamin A works much like Vitamin C, in that it helps boost immunity, but it also help your body fight off infection. It also prevents blindness.

As you can see, eating watermelon is almost tantamount to taking a multivitamin every morning, but with a much better taste.

Watermelons are seasonal, which means that they are not available all year long. It means that when they are in season you should make sure and take advantage.

When you go to the store to purchase one you want to try and find one that is ripe and ready to eat. The best way to do this is to knock on the outside of the rind. If you hear a hollow sound then melon is ready to eat, but if you hear solid thud put it back. The fruit is over ripe and you won't be getting very good flavor from it. Buy your water melon and eat it within the first few days of getting it home.

Everything about it is healthy, and in addition, it won't leave you feeling over stuffed if you eat too much.

So in a few weeks, the weather gets warmer and summer is approaching. Don't forget about watermelons. Eat up and get the extra boost they will add to your healthy lifestyle.

Eating watermelon has a similar effect on the body to Viagra, according to researchers in the US.

It's down to a chemical called citrulline which is found in the juicy fruit.

Citrulline is an organic compound which affects the body's blood vessels in the same way as the sex enhancement pills.

It helps relax the blood vessels which means blood gets around the body more easily.

The research comes from the US' Texas Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Centre.

"Watermelon may not be as organ specific as Viagra... but it's a great way to relax blood vessels without any drug side-effects."

It's also claimed watermelons are good for your heart and immune system. The vast majority of watermelon (92%) is made up of water. But the remaining 8% is loaded with the anti-oxidant lycopene which is also good for your skin.

Wow, delicious AND nutritious. Will you be adding watermelon to your shopping list before a cosy evening in thanks to this news? Have you already tried it and reaped the benefits of 'relaxed blood vessels'? And do any so-called aphrodisiac foods actually work?

'Til next week……. Stay Green, Lean And Sexy…With an “Animal Free” lifestyle

TEEN REGGAE SINGER JAVAUGHN ELECTRIFIES CMJ CROWD

c/o www.spinnermusic.co.uk

At Wednesday night's CMJ show at New York's Brooklyn Bowl, 16-year-old Jamaican musical prodigy Javaughn prowled the stage like a big cat unleashed from a cage as he gripped the microphone and shouted, "This is a song about having a good attitude!" He then glided into 'Peer Pressure' with the ease of a veteran twice his years. Backed by Julian Marley's Uprising Band, Javaughn appears determined to continue the legacy of strong musicianship, steady reggae beats and powerful message laden lyrics begun before he was born by the legendary Bob Marley.

Known as "Javaughn Genius" in his native Jamaica for his multi-instrumental skills and young age, the then 14 year-old Javaughn was brought into the Marley family fold and before long, Damian Marley was producing his debut album 'Superstar' and Julian was taking him on tour as an opening act. To put it lightly, the results are impressive. Like the Marley's, Javaughn's musical career is a family affair, as nine of 10 songs on the album, including the title track, were written by his father.

Although still a relative unknown in the United States, Javaughn's command as a performer, and with it his command of the messages contained within the songs, are both still developing. While singing 'Rich Quick Mentality,' a song that offers a powerful insight to those who would disregard the higher ground for a quick buck, his passion was palpable, if a bit overshadowed by his youthful naiveté.

While Javaughn has no lack of confidence and exudes an amazing electric energy, he still lacks the deep charismatic connection with the audience that his well known mentors exhibit. It will surely come with age, wisdom and experience. Javaughn has the support of one of the great reggae bands in the world, not to mention the Marley family, so it's only a matter of time before this very young and talented artist finds a path that is clearly his own and shines under the power of his own light

MARKO : : All the Love That I've Found
West coast rub a dub reggae artist, Marko released his debut album "All the Love that I've Found" on August 8th at the North West World Music Festival 2009.  The album flows like Yellowman and Brigadier Jerry stoppin by for a session with Sublime at a smokey backyard jam.

"All the Love that I've Found" is the perfect soundtrack for a hot summer; 1980's Jamaican swag with a half baked, west coast twist. The songs on All the Love that I've Found resonate with good vibes
and love, as well as remind us of the charm and color that surround everyday events.  Marko's songs are sincere and his style is true.  His music effortlessly reflects the decades of Jamaican music he has
immersed himself in, while candidly showing he's just another white kid, drinkin, smokin, straight west-coastin.  All the Love... accurately portrays Marko's day to day life, where making music,
praising Jah, giving thanks, coolin' with my baby, vaporizing, and half-price pizza all meld into each other. For the month of October, Marko will be donating all album sales to Great Shape Inc.

REGGAE SINGER/DJ, "MONSOON" BORN DENTON BEDWARD, HAS EMERGED ON THE MUSICAL SCENE:
Reggae  Singer/DJ, "Monsoon" born Denton Bedward, has emerged on the musical scene with a strong force as his namesake implies. His single "As Salaam Alaikum" has already created a buzz on the  international reggae music scene and has already earned a coveted Number 7 spot on the Reggae International Singles Charts!

After a successful 10 years with the award-winning Washington, DC-based S.T.O.R.M. Reggae Band (Strong Talented Organized and Real Musicians), founder and lead singer/deejay Denton "Monsoon" Bedward has stepped out to launch his solo career.

A native of Northern Clarendon in Jamaica, the veteran singer-songwriter's vocal ability has been compared to reggae veterans Capelton, Luciano and Tony Rebel. But where he really shines is on stage. After all, with a name like Monsoon, Bedward knows he has to come in like a strong wind, without mashin’ up the place too much. If you ask Monsoon, he'll tell you his passion to explode musically has always been in his DNA.

“I found my gift for music when I was 6 years old,” he said. “I sang in church and DJ’d on the radio and in school. My friends called me “Juke Box" – because as they would knock the desks, I would rap to the beat.”

A stage career was in the making from them (students even paid to hear him sing and DJ their favorite songs). While Juke Box was making a name for himself in class and on the playgrounds, his behavior didn't sit well with the principal and his teachers.

“I used to spend a good amount of time in the principal’s office,” he recalls.

Monsoon has opened for several international artists to include Elephant Man, Capleton, Luciano, and Steel Pulse. Recently, reggae icon Leroy Sibbles declared him the next reggae artist to look for, comparing him to a modern day "Toots". Monsoon is currently recording for some top producers in Jamaica and is in talks to perform for shows slated in Jamaica, Canada and the United States.

A RETURN TO LOVE

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

----from A Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson.
