WNCAP Opens Signature Piece Competition
Asheville, NC – Competition for the sought-after Signature Piece of art for the 2010 Raise Your Hand auction to benefit the Western North Carolina AIDS Project is underway. The winner of this juried competition will receive regional recognition and two premier tickets to the auction, scheduled to take place on September 25th at the Doubletree Hotel in Asheville, near Biltmore Village.
The Signature Piece will be featured in all advertising and promotional materials created for the event. Artists who wish to submit a piece for consideration should call the WNCAP office at 828-252-7489 and leave a message for Harry Brown, Signature Piece Chair. Submissions must be received by July 15.
Guests at this year’s Raise Your Hand auction will enjoy a new format that includes culinary delights prepared by some of Asheville’s favorite chefs. Local chefs participating in the event are Michel Baudouin from Bouchon, Joe Scully from the Corner Kitchen, and Anthony Cerrato from Fiores Ristorante Toscana. James Kammann, President of Dining Innovations at the Doubletree and Kamm’s Frozen Custard, and Eric Scheffer, Managing Director of Dining Innovations at the Doubletree and owner of Vinnie's Neighborhood Italian, will also be participating.
“The antics of our Roving Auctioneer and a special wine tasting room for the delicate palate are sure to add to the excitement of a great evening of festivities and fundraising,” states Pam Siekman, Chairperson for the event.
In addition to high quality art, the Raise Your Hand auction will feature wine selections, dinner packages, vacation trips, and gift certificates offering special services. Donations for the auction are currently being accepted at the WNCAP office.
The Western North Carolina AIDS Project provides HIV/AIDS education and awareness programs throughout WNC and offers case management and other supportive services to those affected by the disease. For more than twenty years the Raise Your Hand auction has been a major fundraising event for the organization.
