WNCAP Awarded Community Benefits Grants from Mission Hospitals
Asheville, NC - WNCAP was recently awarded a $32,000 grant from the Community Benefits Program of Mission Hospitals in support of HIV Case Management.  The goal of the program is to support community-based organizations that seek collaborative solutions to high priority health problems in Buncombe and Madison Counties.  The disparity ratio for AIDS is higher than for any other major health problem or condition in Buncombe County, which means that minorities affected by HIV/AIDS have significantly worse outcomes than non-minorities.  "We appreciate Mission Hospital’s vote of confidence in WNCAP’s ability to change that reality and help all individuals living with HIV access the medical care and supportive services they need to live healthy and productive lives," says WNCAP Development Director Laura Kirby. WNCAP is a nonprofit organization that provides supportive services to those who are living with HIV in 18 counties of WNC, and prevention education to men, women and youth throughout the region.  For more information about any of WNCAP's programs or services, please go to http://www.wncap.org/.
