Fun Film Festival Starts This Weekend!

A Fall to Remember...

November already....  Fall has been lovely in the southern Appalachians this year, with extra bright colors.  Now, sadly, it's time to let this season go.

One thing I am ready to let go is election season, as
politics in America have been especially ugly lately.

If you have not voted yet, please do.  All of our voices need to be heard.

The only way our country and our world can possibly work is if we realize we truly ARE all in this together.  When will we ever learn that?

And Now: Asheville International Children's Film Festival & Gala!

AICFF, now in its second year, has begun!  Off and running, from November 1-14, 2010, it's going to be even better than last year.  I wish those of you who live far away from Western North Carolina could come and enjoy it, too ~ it's going to be GREAT!

AICFF provides culturally diverse, value-affirming films for children and adults, age 3 and up.  This festival celebrates the best and brightest in international children’s cinema, with over 100 films from more than 30 countries, plus many special events.  Public screenings and events are this coming weekend and next.

Check out this funny two-minute AICFF promo, with Founder & Artistic Director Tim Arem, Jon Menick and David Miller of Story Point Media ~ and me!

And please check the Schedule for all the events, including the Friday, November 5 Gala that benefits Little Pearls and AICFF. The gala will be at the Manor Inn, with great entertainment, films, silent auction, food, beer and wine.  Time: 6-9 p.m.  Cost: $25 single, $40 per couple.

The gala is the only venue for Little Pearls, the non-profit umbrella organization for the festival, to FUNdraise, through ticket sales and a very cool silent auction.  Please come!

There is so much more in this festival for children and adults to enjoy, including the Costume Pancake Breakfast November 6, Movie Magic Workshops November 13 and a special screening event for Magic in the Forest on November 14.

Information about individual film blocks and appropriate ages is on the AICFF website, plus lots more, including this sweet AICFF Trailer by Bonesteel Films.

See you at the movies!

Sharing Little Pearls with the World

Why we need YOU

“I just watched three Little Pearls and I feel like I've been to church!  Uplifted and connected to the world and others. So much that's so good in such a small treasure.” ~ Michelle S

Little Pearls inspire connection, understanding and compassion by opening hearts and minds.  This is the gift we offer ~ to you, to those you love and to the world.

You can help us create new Pearls and a long-overdue new DVD sampler, so we can get these gifts out into the world and make a difference.

Please consider donating, especially now when matching funds for grant applications are critical.  We really need your support!

Warmly,

Linda McLean
