The Joy of Crafts

I guess I have to confess that I have a passion to create crafts. I wish I had more time for it! But

since it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

everywhere you go, I'd better hurry and make something  artisanal (French for handmade:-)

December is one of the best months for seasonal crafts - great-looking, environmentally-friendly and easy to make holiday gifts.

Each of the projects in this newsletter can be done in less than an hour and makes a perfect Christmas present. All of them are my design, but of course you can find lots of similar things on the internet.

Here is my  Holiday Arty-Crafty Collection :-)

The Joy of Words

Another passion of mine is words. This month I decided to use words of the season to 'decorate' my newsletter.

Every time you spot a line from a Christmas/ New Year/Winter song, click on the picture for some music :-)

enJOY!!!

The Joy of Poetry

Blow, blow, thou winter wind

Thou art not so unkind,

As man's ingratitude.

         William Shakespeare

One kind word can warm three winter months.

          Japanese proverb

In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enJOY

                  William Blake

Making this Artsy-Craftsy is a work in progress. You will probably hear from me with some more holidays crafts:-)

Knitting Christmas presents is a fun way to say "I love you".

And you know I love you ... I kid thee not :-)

The weather outside is not that frightful yet. You know there's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes. You just need a good scarf to keep you warm.

Scented Pillow

If you like a natural fragrance of pine,   this sachet pillow is a perfect gift for you. It's filled with scented fiberfill.

I fill my sachet pillows with potpouri or spices or add some of my favourite essential oils (for Christmas - Cinnamon, Peppermint, and Pine)

There are lots of websites about how to make your own Christmas blends

Scented Sachet

"Who is this coming up from the wilderness

Like palm-trees of smoke,

Perfumed with myrrh and frankincense,

From every powder of the merchant?"

"Till the day doth break forth,

And the shadows have fled away,

I will get me unto the mountain of myrrh,

And unto the hill of frankincense."

Oh I long to feel that Christmas spirit in my heart...

Christmas

Tree Balls

And so this is Christmas

I hope you have fun

I had fun making this crocheted Christmas tree ball. Only natural yarns (as always) have been used, so kids can play with it. Inside - Japanese paper ball.

A very merry Christmas

And a happy New Year

Let's hope it's a good one

Without any fear

Plant Pot Cozy

Brr, it's cold

It's cold out there

This plant, 'dressed' in a hand-knitted pink cable cozy with a huge antler button,  is sitting on my countertop and is not afraid of temperature drop.

Blue Christmas Brooch

And when those blue snowflakes start fallin'

And when those blue melodies start callin'

You'll be doin' all right, with your Christmas of white,

But I'll have a blue Christmas without you.
