A New Year Prayer
Holy Father,
God of our yesterdays, or today, and our tomorrows.
We praise You for Your unequaled greatness.
Thank You for the year behind us and for the year ahead.
Help us in Your new year, Father to fret less and laugh more.
To teach our children to laugh by laughing with them.
To teach others to love by loving them.
Knowing, when Love came to the stable in Bethlehemk He came for us.
So that Love could be with us, and we could know You.
That we share Love with others.
Help us, Father, to hear Your love song in every sunrise, in the chriping of sparrows in our backyards, in the stories of our old folks, and the fantasies of our children.
Help us to stop and listen to Your love songs, so that we may know You better and better.
We rejoice in the world You loved into being.
Thank You for another new year and for new chances every day.
We pray for peace, for light, and for hope, that we migh spread them to others.
Forgive us for falling short this past year.
We leave the irreparable past in your hands, and step out into the unknown new year knowing You will go with us.
We accept Your gift of a new year and we rejoice in what's ahead, depending on You to help us do exactly what You want.
I say it again, we rejoice!
In Jesus name,

Looking back on the year that has just ended, some things may have changed in our life circumstances and we struggled to accept these changes; other things may still be unresolved and await the new year to see significant movement toward resolution. Whatever our individual lives hold, one thing is inevitable: change will occur. To what degree and whether favorable or unfavorable, is in our hands. We make the decisions as to what goes on. Guidance is sought through prayer and meditation, listening to the “still small voice” within us, or perhaps in other ways, but no matter the method we use, the final decision and choice is ours.
Making NewYears' resolutions is, to me, a minefield of expectations that, even if one slip-up happens despite our best intentions, we feel we've failed and the land mine is activated. Boom! There goes that resolution!   Setting goals seems to be a much more realistic approach to making needed changes. Tiny goals that lead us to bigger goals and better circumstances gives us a sense of 'I can do it!' When each little goal is reached successfully, it creates an inner strength and a feeling of accomplishment that leads us onward and upward.
A blank slate and a journal of unwritten pages await us for the new year. At the end of 2011, what will our slate look like and what will be written on the pages? Unknown possibilities and untold blessings are there to be had. We are the painters and authors of our lives, and God has given us all the tools we need to live the life He has called us to live. It is there within us, waiting to be brought forth into Divine expression.
Whatever the year just ended held for each of us, next year can, and will be, better as we look up and not back, knowing that God leads, God cares and loves us, and God supplies all our needs, no matter what they may be.
Keep the faith that 2011 will be your best year yet. It is just waiting for you to make it happen!
Love and Blessings,
Rev. Edee Root

Jackie C. was in her late twenties, married with two small children. She and her husband lived in a trailer park just west of town. Both of them worked at menial jobs trying to make ends meet, but they spent a lot of their money on drugs and, especially, alcohol. Neither of them had a faith in God.
It happened that Jackie came home from working at the supermarket one day and her husband and children were not there as she expected them to be. As time passed, she became worried and began phoning friends asking about them. Nobody knew anything about their whereabouts. Eventually it turned out that he had simply taken both children with him and left her. Nobody knew where he had gone. A few weeks passed and police searches yielded no clues. Jackie was distraught and drank alone.
Finally, she decided she couldn’t take it any more and that she would commit suicide. This decision and the plan were reached in moments of sobriety. Jackie carefully loaded their pistol, a .357 Magnum, and pulled a bar stool to the middle of the kitchenette floor to sit on and end her life. Her thinking was that she wanted to avoid as much blood splatter on the rest of the kitchen as she could. This powerful pistol leaves a relatively small entry wound but the exiting bullet blows the opposite side of the head open.
Jackie clambered up onto the bar stool, seated herself, cocked the pistol, and pointed it at her right temple. Being an atheist, she had not attempted to call upon a higher power for help in her situation. Yet, in her last moments, she realized that she was totally ticked off at God (Who didn’t exist), and she proceeded to let Him have it. With pistol to her temple, she gave Him a withering verbal barrage up one side and down the other about what a terrible life it had been, how everything was wrong, and He didn’t help them, and on and on. She ranted aloud, on and on, until finally venting most of her anger, then she cocked the pistol, put it to back up to her temple, and was about to fire, when another thought struck her. Angrily, she blurted out one final salvo, “And one more thing: why do You have to be invisible all the time?!”
At that moment a bright golden column of light beamed down on her from above, immersing her in the light and with feelings of peace, love, and total acceptance that instantly changed her mood. She told me that she had never before or since felt such total love. And a quiet, calm male voice came from somewhere inside the light.
It very simply explained, “I am not invisible: you are blind.”

Spirituality reveals that we are a part of something larger than the lifetime in which we are living.  Spirits depart their bodily host after the complex organisms and processes that provide connection to our world can no longer continue functioning.  Lives have no guarantee of length or success that can be achieved.  We are provided with a potential that is so great that no one can see or do everything.  Prioritizing must be done to accomplish self-set or predestined goals.  We are envied by angels because of the free will and the decisions that we are allowed to make.
Our bodies are composed of a few elements found on Earth and will decompose back into them.  Physical death is of one life's few certainties.  While we are here, self-preservation is a powerful instinct and we will struggle against reaching the uncertainty of death.
Aging is a natural process for a body, but it differs greatly for a mind.  How you feel on the inside of your brain and outside in the body can vary greatly, depending on the bodies' condition.  After maturing, people often notice that their mind feels younger than their aging and aching body; revealing the spirits' lack of mortality.  An old and painful body takes a toll on mental condition and perception.  A bodily-contained spirit can become weary from the struggles of living and unrealized expectations.  Even after a mind deteriorates a soul will remain attached, by unseen forces, to a physical body until it is released by physical death.
Spirit, soul, heart, and body are intertwined and connected by unseen energies and forces.  Spirit and soul are the elements that excite the mind and animate the body.  The heart and soul carry important feelings and events that are used for a basis of where the next progression or regression will lead to after this existence ends.  Further education or purification may be needed before the spiritual essence of a being is allowed to move to another long-term plane of existence or place of rest.
Mortal life is granted to everyone, but a continued or eternal life is something that must be earned.  Learning and practicing the ways of God is the way to attain a peaceful state of immortality.
Home is a place of security, peace, and happiness.  Going Home, is when a soul successfully returns to where it originated from before the journey of a lifetime began and if successful can progress toward a paradise of Heaven.  Flying Home can be done on the wings of Love or with angels.  Letting heaven exist in your mind can keep a bit of Home in your head and heart every day.  Love that is returned is the most easily recognized form of external Love, but like a reflection it is often not as strong as the original form.  Finding your way back homeward is accomplished by showing the Love in your Heart to the Son of God, who will present you to the Father of all mankind for judgment.  Living up to the name manKIND builds the Love in a heart without the need of having to see Love being directly returned from another.
Even though a million spirits and their souls come and go from our planet every week, they are all judged on what they did and learned as humans.  Everyone writes a Book of Life simply by living on Earth.  Judgment also involves using the stories recorded by an individual in their Book of Life.  When their individual day of judgment arrives everyone is on their own with the contents of their heart to rely on as witness to their character.  We will be judged by the way we judge.  Jesus, The Lamb of God, will present you to the Father as a friend and brother or sister if you have learned to live in His ways.
How long an individual has to live and learn is a part of destiny.  Destiny is preset and yet may be variable, being cut short or extended through intervention.  An ultimate goal of life is found in the seeking of God and becoming worthy of joining the Peace and Love that His kingdom has to offer.  Looking ahead, but living your life acting as though this could be your last day provides a view that can help in living more fully.
While reaching a goal is significant, the most important reward of living is found in the journey itself.  An important secret of a happy life is found in discovering the flowing current it offers and enjoying the ride.  We have been given a wonderful opportunity to learn, grow, and make individual decisions.  Recognizing spirit and developing it is not an easy undertaking using only physical methods, but by using our highly evolved thinking processes it is possible.  Inspirational and Educational words can be found in many varieties that all require searching to find them and analyzing their value.
Spiritual death is a separation from God.  Idolatry is more than worshipping idols; it is also a blinding or excessive devotion to something.  Seeking great status for power and maintaining an excessive monetary basis for a life are common modern forms of idolatry.  Any lifestyle or state of mind that leads to excluding God from our daily lives can lead to losing an everlasting life of bliss.
Heaven, hell, limbo, reincarnation, nothing, a deep sleep, and being a part of the new kingdom of God all provide possible destinations for a life after this one.  God will determine your next destination, based on who and what you really are.  Death is often referred to in the Bible as a sleep with a totally unconscious state that awaits awakening.  The first resurrection that occurs with the return of Christ, the Messiah, states that the dead in Christ will rise first.  Reincarnation, to some, can include embodiment in other forms than just that of human beings.  As all stations of life are not equal on Earth, spiritual places also have levels.  Your place after this life will be provided by your spiritual character and development.  Life on Earth is tumultuous and often unfair leaving room for improvement in a different existence.  So, while we are (or should be) working to improve our present lot, we still wish for something better to look forward to beyond our present existence.  The study of spirituality and religion shows that there is more than our present existence providing possibilities of a better place later.  Death does not have to be the end, but may be for some.  After we lose functionality on Earth, our essence will move toward a further existence elsewhere that will be determined by how we fare in the proving grounds of our present lives.  Enjoy your life and live it with a greater purpose in mind.
May Peace Always Be Within and Surrounding You,
Dennis Dunk

Our Mission

The Flint Spiritual Church is an independent, progressive, non-traditional, Christian Church and is founded upon the sacred teachings of the Holy Bible; to bring mankind the understanding of spirituality according to the fundamentals of Spiritualism.
Our Prayer
We pray to the God of our lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that he may give you a spirit of wisdom and insight, and so enable you to understand His divine nature.  May He open your spiritual eyes so that you may see what hope is yours by virtue of His call, and how rich in His glory is the inheritance that you will share with His faithful, and also how vast is His Power, as manifested in us who believe in Him.  Amen.

Articles Of Faith

Being You

If I am unable to step into the space
that is you, to see and hear with
your eyes and ears, and feel it,
I will have no understanding.
If I have not experienced the
understanding of one on one,
or known earth, sky and water,
I will not have found harmony.
Without the strands that unify
heart and mind, the harmony
of all life will not be mine,
and I will never find peace.
Experiencing the embrace of God
and hearing the moon’s lullaby
requires an opening of the heart and a
dismantling of mental doors and locks.
The path of love is wide and deep
and has no gate or toll for entry.
All that is needed is that first step
to shatter the illusions of “other.”
There is a calling from the trees at night.
Listen for it and rise from your sleep;
with bare feet step onto grass damp
from Mother Earth’s healing tears.
Follow the moon light, hum the songs
of peace and harmony to the stars
as you attune to the melody of love,
and feel the weavings of one to another.

Biblical Spiritualism - Remote Viewing

A remote veiwer has the ability to gather information about an object or person that is hidden from physical view and separated by distance.
2 Kings 6:8-17 KJV
Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp. (9) And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down. (10) And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice. (11) Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel? (12) And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber. (13) And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan. (14) Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. (15) And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? (16) And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. (17) And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

Recipe for a Happy New Year

Take twelve fine, full-grown months; see that these are thoroughly free from old memories of bitterness, rancor and hate, cleanse them completely from every clinging spite; pick off all specks of pettiness and littleness; in short, see that these months are freed from all the past—have them fresh and clean as when they first came from the great storehouse of Time. Cut these months into thirty or thirty-one equal parts. Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time (so many persons spoil the entire lot this way) but prepare one day at a time.
Into each day put equal parts of faith, patience, courage, work (some people omit this ingredient and so spoil the flavor of the rest), hope, fidelity, liberality, kindness, rest (leaving this out is like leaving the oil out of the salad dressing— don’t do it), prayer, meditation, and one well-selected resolution. Put in about one teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.

One Sunday in a Midwest city a young child was "acting up" during the morning worship hour. The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle. Finally the father picked the little fellow up and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out. Just before reaching the safety of the foyer the little one called loudly to the congregation, "Pray for me! Pray for me!"
During the minister's prayer one Sunday, there was a loud whistle from one of the back pews. Gary's mother was horrified. She pinched him into silence, and after church, asked: "Gary, whatever made you do such a thing?" Gary answered soberly: "I asked God to teach me to whistle... And He just then did!"
One night Mike's parents overheard this prayer. "Now I lay me down to rest, and hope to pass tomorrow's test, if I should die before I wake, that's one less test I have to take."
A five-year-old said grace at family dinner one night. "Dear God, thank you for these pancakes." When he concluded, his parents asked him why he thanked God for pancakes when they were having chicken. He smiled and said, "I thought I'd see if He was paying attention tonight."
Johnny had been misbehaving and was sent to his room. After a while he emerged and informed his mother that he had thought it over and then said a prayer. "Fine," said the pleased mother. "If you ask God to help you not misbehave, He will help you." "Oh, I didn't ask Him to help me not misbehave," said Johnny. "I asked Him to help you put up with me."
The preacher was wired for sound with a lapel mike, and as he preached, he moved briskly about the platform, jerking the mike cord as he went. Then he moved to one side, getting wound up in the cord and nearly tripping before jerking it again.  After several circles and jerks, a little girl in the third pew leaned toward her mother and whispered, "If he gets loose, will he hurt us?"
