A note from Laurey

Good morning to you all. I write from my home today. My chilly home! Sheesh! What happened to spring?

First of all, please accept my apologies for not writing this weekend. As you know, things have been a tad topsy turvy in my world these past couple of weeks. I am fine, but I had a full weekend. My birthday was on Saturday and I had a few visitors who came to see me, bring me balloons (Monsieur Henri picked out a nice Firetruck balloon for me), woo me with bites to eat, and, well, just visit. After having spent the past two weeks recovering from surgery, three visitors put me over the top and so any non-visitor time was spent sleeping.

Yesterday my sister took me out on an excursion, to church and then to brunch and that tipped me over that day’s edge. I slept the whole afternoon and then rallied to take Tye the pup for a walk with my sister/driver/caretaker.

And today, well, I am feeling a whole lot better and can now confess, having accomplished the mission successfully, that I drove to town, ate French Toast at my shop, had a nice visit with everyone, and made it home. I am not supposed to be driving yet but I’m not one to stick that closely to rules, know what I mean?

In case you’re in the fog about my life these days, know that a beast was discovered in my large intestine recently. A clever surgeon and his able assistant (and team, no doubt) went in and got the thing, cutting into my belly a bit, but sewing it up nicely too. Sadly, a couple of beastly nibs are still lurking, but I have an appointment with another clever fellow on Wednesday who is plotting a strategy to go get them and so, before too long, I’ll be hoisting myself back up and into my comfortable saddle and will continue this most interesting ride that has captivated me for all these years.

For now, I’m going to back off the regular 10 article newsletter until I am back at work and have 10 things to talk about. Please do continue to enjoy our dinners to go and our casseroles and lasagnas of the week, not to mention considering my team when it comes time to cater something for yourself or for your office. My work friends are at work, making great food. I’m not there right now but everyone is still getting paid so, um, thanks for helping make that happen.

And in the longer term, know that I plan to stick around for a good long time. I still owe a few people some money and I plan to pay them back. I still have a book in my heart and that has yet to be written. I still have trips to take and movies to see and friends to make and adventures to have. I am not done. Not by a long shot.

Thank you for all the kind thoughts.
Thank you for sharing your care and love with me. Back atcha.
See you soon,
Laurey
