LAZA MORGAN TO PERFORM AT REGGAE SUMFEST 2011
Montego Bay, Jamaica: Atlantic/Elektra recording artiste Laza Morgan, brother of Gramps and Peetah Morgan of famed reggae group Morgan Heritage and son of reggae legend Denroy Morgan, whose multi-platinum 'I’ll Do Anything For You' ruled urban playlists in the 1980's, is confirmed as a performer on 'International Night 2' at the 2011 installment of Reggae Sumfest, on Saturday, July 23, at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Laza will join US acts Nicki Minaj, R Kelly, along with Jamaican hitmakers Mavado, Jah Cure, Beenie Man, Tanya Stephens and I Octane at Sumfest, that kicks off on Thursday July 21 - Saturday July 23.
"I am extremely excited to be included in this year's powerful Reggae Sumfest lineup. Sumfest is certainly the biggest platforms in the Caribbean for a reggae artiste to showcase their craft and I plan to do just that when I perform on international night this year" he said.

ANNETTE BRISSETT – PERFORMING ON REGGAE ON THE RIVER - AVAILABLE IN JULY

Annette Brissett is available in July on tour with her full band. With the release of her new CD – Lift Your Head Up – Annette has added some of her new work to her program. For years Annette Brissett has represented as one of the few quality female reggae artists available. Now she has reaffirmed her position with another strong CD release. Annette is a musician as well as a singer, which enables her to put more of her own influence into the music she produces. West Coast fans are eager to see this special vocalist on tour again.

Ms. Annette Brissett is without a doubt the single most complete and versatile female artist on the Reggae circuit. She not only writes lyrics and composes and arranges music, but also sings and plays all the required instruments. She's like an Aretha Franklin, India Arie or Alicia Keys, in that she composes and performs (sings and plays) equally well.

MELLOQUENCE MAKING A HIT WITH HIS "SACRIFICES"

Sacrifices have always come at a price and the soothing and hard hitting song titled Sacrifices (Only Jah Jah) by  reggae/dancehall entertainer Melloquence injects a reminiscent feeling of losing a loved one or dealing with a difficult circumstance.

The 24 year-old unsigned musician whose real name is Ramone Drake created a knee-jerk reaction of positive reviews with his new song Sacrifices (Only Jah Jah) produced by Inna Wi Genes Records, a company he and his brother operates.

“To tell you the truth I am humbled and honoured that this song has been able to touch the lives of so many persons. It is currently playing on the radio and several reputable producers have lauded the effort so I am grateful for the support persons are giving to the song. Listen to it and hear it for yourself it is really something that will have you thinking”, Melloquence explained in an interview.

The soothing melodies coupled with the simplicity in its composition grabs your ear drums and stimulate thoughts that were long buried.

JAMAICA DAY OUTDOOR REGGAE FESTIVAL SET FOR JULY 10TH!

Frankie Paul and Leroy Sibbles to be honored at the fifth annual Jamaica day reggae festival on July 10th,2011 at the Anne Arundel County Fairground. Below is a bio on these two reggae icon that has kept the standard of reggae music to its optimum.

Leroy Sibbles is a Reggae icon who has amassed a string of hits in a career that began in the 1960’s.  As the lead singer of the Heptones, Sibbles voice is omnipresent in Reggae’s Rock Steady genre.  Some of Sibbles greatest hits are “Fattie Fattie”, “Party Time”, “Pretty Looks”, “Book of Rules” and the magnificent Reggae version of Bob Dylan’s masterpiece “I Shall Be Released”.    Less known but equally impactful is Sibbles work as a session bassist and arranger at the legendary Studio One label where he helped to craft some of the greatest “riddims” in Jamaica’s long musical history.

Frankie Paul is a Dancehall Reggae singing legend who is regarded as Jamaica’s Stevie Wonder.  His string of hits such as “Sara”, “Worries in the Dance” and “Pass the Ku-Sheng Peng” have firmly placed him in the pantheon of Dancehall Reggae greats.  Although partially blind, this has not stopped the singer from giving energetic stage performances throughout the world continuously for over 20 years.  This prolific performer has over 30 albums to his credit.

BUJU BANTON SENTENCING COMPLETED

Buju Banton was sentenced last Thursday to 10 years in federal prison after being convicted of three counts related to cocaine trafficking.

The reggae performer, whose real name is Mark Myrie, has been in custody since his arrest in December 2009 in Miami after he allegedly attempted to buy a large amount of cocaine from an undercover officer. He could have been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

After a mistrial in September, Banton in February was acquitted of attempted possession with the intent to distribute but found guilty of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense and using a telephone to facilitate a drug trafficking offense.

The convictions came less than two weeks after Banton, a previous Grammy nominee, won a Grammy Award for best reggae album, "Before the Dawn."

Banton can't record music while in prison, according to the Jamaica Gleaner, but will be allowed to keep his dreadlocks and practice his Rastafarian faith.

WE THE UNDERSIGNED : : WE THE UNDERSIGNED!
The self-titled EP We, the Undersigned! will feature four red-hot tracks including dub/rock beast No Hope and the crowd-pleasing reggae favourite False Flag. We, the Undersigned (WtU) is a UK band bringing a furious new style of music: STANKH, a mixture of many influences including reggae, rock, funk and jazz – featuring the mighty Blowback Horns. They play politically motivated songs, requesting that people read some history and think for themselves. They are lovers of strong melody and harmony, true love and true democracy. They are attempting to revolutionize the planet through the medium of dance. If you dance, you move, and if you move, you are free. Don’t let anyone tell you any different. Bless!
SHARPE : : SHARPE

The song is a reggae dancehall cross over. The artist flirts with idea of how he spends his cash when "money is right". It is a fun loving entertaining song for partying and club scene.

The artist recently got a right up in the Jamaican star.

I-CIENT-CY MAU:WORKS TO DO
I-CIENT-CY’S MOTHER ELIZA “MS SHIRLEY” TEMPLE FROM CLARENDON, AND FATHER EDMOND “PAINTER” WILLIAMS FROM ST. ELIZABETH MET WHILE LOOKING FOR WORK IN KINGSTON. FROM THE MIDST OF THIS BEAUTIFUL RELATIONSHIP CAME THREE SONS “JUNIOR DESMOND WILLIAMS” IS THE COUPLE’S SECOND SON, GIVING LIFE TO “I-CIENT-CY”, A NAME GIVEN TO HIM FROM HIS CHILDHOOD DAYS BY ELDERS, MEANING “ANCIENT ONE “. WHILE ATTENDING EXCELSIOR HIGH SCHOOL, HE READ ABOUT THE MAU MAU MOVEMENT, KENYA'S MILITANT RESISTANCE AGAINST BRITISH COLONIAL RULE THAT BEGAN IN 1946 AND ENDED IN 1961 WITH MANY MAU MAU WARRIORS LOSING THEIR LIVES. HIS CONNECTION TO THEIR PLIGHT MADE HIM REALIZE HE WOULD SOME DAY DRAW UPON THEIR STRENGTH AND INSPIRATION, PUTTING IT INTO HIS MUSIC. THUS, GIVING BIRTH TO THE NAME OF HIS BAND “I-CIENT-CY MAU AND THE MAU MAU WARRIORS”

HIS DEBUT ALBUM "WHEN WORDS COME TO LIFE" HAS A ROOTS ROCK SOUND, MIXED WITH A COMBINATION OF STRONG VOCALS OVER THE MELODY DRUM AND BASS; IT SPEAKS THE TRUE GHETTO EXPERIENCE BLENDED IN HARMONY. THE FIRST TWO SINGLES OFF THE ALBUM "WORKS TO DO"AND STRUGGLE" PACK A SOLID ONE TWO PUNCH, THAT WILL HAVE THE WORLD WANTING MORE.

A MATTER OF BALANCE
"My soul is the bridge between spirit and body and, as such, is a uniter of opposites. ...Without soul at center, I would either transcend into spirit or become mired in matter."
-- Marion Woodman
