I, sadly
enough, had to turn people away last year. I am hoping that I don't have to do that
again. Please be proactive and REGISTER NOW if you are
planning on running!

First race of the 2011 Asheville Track Club Grand Prix!
|
The Isaac
Dickson Hot Chocolate 10K & Kids Hill Climb kicks off the 2012 Asheville Track
Club race season by being the first race in the Asheville Track Club's
2012 Grand Prix race series! What a great way to start the new year off
on the right foot! You must be an ATC member to participate in the Grand Prix. Please
visit their website for the complete list of rules.

Parking Shuttle and Parking Information
|
Just like
last year, we are restricting the use of the IDES upper parking lots to sponsors,
volunteers, race staff, and only a few select runners who will be notified ahead
of time. To compensate for this restriction, we have adjusted our recommend parking
locations and are recommending that event participants park in the city parking
garage on Rankin Ave (next to Pack Library). There will be a shuttle running from
in front of Pack Library on Haywood to the bus stop in front of Isaac Dickson School.
Two shuttles will run every 15 minutes starting with the first pickup at Pack Library
at 6:00 a.m. and the last pickup (before the race) at Pack Library being at 8:45
a.m. - remember the race starts at 9:00 a.m. so, runners, you really shouldn't be
on that last shuttle!!! The shuttle will start again at 10 a.m. at the bus stop
in front of IDES and depart every 15 minutes until the last shuttle at 12 p.m.
Again, the parking locations for this year's race, in order of recommendation, are
1. City parking garage on Rankin Ave. 2. Chamber of Commerce (all but upper portion
of lot). 3. Randolph Learning Center on Montford Ave. There will be absolutely no
parking on Hill Street. Your car will be towed.

Pasta dinner by Earth Fare and packet pickup on Friday night
|
Once again,
Earth
Fare is sponsoring our AWESOME pasta dinner which is planned for the night
before the race! This special event will exclusively benefit the Isaac Dickson Elementary
School garden, which is a wonderful outdoor learning tool utilized by all of our
classrooms. Isaac Dickson students are planting, growing, and learning new things
all the time because of this garden.
All of the pasta, salad and YUMMY bread will be provided by Earth Fare! Up to two
kids eat for free with one paying adult ($5.50). If you plan on bringing more than
the two free children, please purchase this additional child ticket ($2.25). Tickets
can be purchased online or at the door. If you purchase online, your tickets will
be available at the dinner. So, bring the family and friends and a little bit of
cash! Have some pasta and pick up your race number!

Important bag check information
|
As in previous
years, we will be providing a STAFFED BAG CHECK on race morning. This is a great
service that wasn't used by many racers last year. It is even more important this
year because of the fact that we are asking runners to use the Rankin Ave. parking
garage and shuttle. With the bag check, you will be able to pack a bag of warm clothes
for after the race. Please plan on using it!

The Isaac
Dickson Hot Chocolate 10K, Kids Hill Climb, & Marshmallow Dash is a race to
benefit the non-profit Isaac Dickson

This event is chip timed by Right on Time Productions and long sleeve t-shirts are
guaranteed to all 10K participants. The 1K Kids Hill Climb is limited to children
12 and under (although parents can run along side for free, of course!) And new
