Brina – New Voice of World Roots Reggae Music From Jamaica – Releaes New Single “Lala Vizuri” (Sleep My Little Baby) As a Free Download |

This song is available exclusively as a free download at:
www.brinastunes.com
Brina has gained airplay in Jamaica and globally with her previous double single release Listen & Real Reggae Music. This new song is from her début album 'Under One Sun'.
“Every singer should have a baby’s song. I have been performing this song since I wrote it in 2009, and now it’s time to share it with the rest of the world.” – Brina.
This song heals the soul. Listen as Brina sings from her heart to the children of the world.
“Lala Vizuri” shares both English and Swahili. Brina's desire to connect with a wider audience by using both languages is clear. The song's theme is sure to be appreciated globally and touch the heart of the Pan African Swahili speaking peoples.
Brina asks us to bring to mind the horrific world of suffering children. She asks us to imagine.
“Wazza, every child a tender seed given the chance to blossom and grow!”
In the chorus she intones from her heart...
“Sleep my little baby tonight I'll leave the lights on....
Sleep my little baby, this village will pray for you”
…reflecting how little children, because of fear and pain are afraid to sleep without lights.
Rock, sway and dance as you listen to Lala Vizuri. Share Brina's baby's song born from her beating heart and soul. Inhale these words of love and hope as they bring tears to your eyes. Make it an anthem of hope for future generations.

Lala Vizuri is a cool one drop recorded with the legendary Sly Dunbar on drums. Istvan Dely’s Afro-Caribbean touch on percussion, Demar Gayle of Raging Fyah on keyboards, the haunting guitar of Omar Francis and the warm laid back bass of Kieran C Murray all add to the heart and soul of this inspiring song.

New Zealand - Kaikoura Roots Festival Returns: Thrills Crowd |
The comeback of the Kaikoura Roots Festival is being hailed a hit from every perspective, with some even labelling it the best yet.
After a five-year gap the dub reggae music event was back and it was certainly worth the wait.
Despite its site relocation and new names on the lineup, the weekend was unmistakably Kaikoura and even more unmistakably Roots. A friendly, family atmosphere, some choice beats, the beautiful backdrop of mountain and ocean and some warm sunshine, where else could this have been?
Seasoned Roots followers delighted in catching up with one another. Some may have had more or less hair, a few more wrinkles or an extra child in tow since last time, but the feeling was the same as ever.
About 2000 people were at the festival, almost a sellout.
Festival co-organiser Leo Harnett said the mood had been created in part by the number of families who attended, and said it was great to see so many young children during the day. Another highlight was to see so many familiar faces in the crowd.
"We didn't really know what to expect [as far as crowd goes]. But our crowd came back." he said. "And we have had real positive feedback about the crew from the punters. A friendly crew make a festival."
Police agreed that the atmosphere had been one of relative calm, with just one arrest at the event itself and another on Sunday morning at a backpackers. Both were drug-related.
Constable Andy Watson said police encountered a "couple of people passed out" at various points throughout the night, but there had been no reports of disorder, thefts or assaults. "All in all police are pretty pleased with the way the event was managed and the way people behaved."
Kaikoura Roots 2012 was opened with a powhiri at midday, by Para Nui O Whiti. Mighty Asterix and Stinky Jim kicked off the music onstage, followed by old favourites Wicked Draw – a long time coming for many who have looked forward to the Kaikoura festival during its five-year hiatus.
The rest of the musicians kept the party pumping, with Soulsystem, Kora, Salmonella Dub and DJ Digital to name but a few on the lineup. But ask around the crowd the following day and it would be hard to look past Dub FX as making the greatest impact on them, playing in the small hours of Sunday morning.
The new site on Old Beach Road also got the approval of organisers and the crowd, with shade cloth and easy access to the beach and creek enabling people to keep cool as temperatures soared. The natural contours of the site lent themselves to containing the music and crowds neatly and the campsite and parking were more accessible than in previous years.

Festival Goers' Pee Polutes River |
The annual reggae festival in Uppsala, north of Stockholm, may have more serious consequences for the local community than a handful of stoned teens and a bad case of littering.
Scientists have found that drug remnants in the nearby Fyris river multiplied to dangerously high levels after the party was over.
”During upcoming festivals the organizers must ensure that there are enough portable toilets in the area and urge the festival-goers not to urinate outdoors, as this is what leads to medical products leaking into the river water,” said Atlasi Daneshvar, a PhD student at the Deptartment of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment at Uppsala University, to local paper Upsala Nya Tidning (UNT).
For two years in a row, scientists have conducted tests before, during, and after the festival at various locations by the river.
They found that during the year when the weather was good, they saw almost no changes in the levels of drug remnants in the water.
However, the next year, when the festival weekend was bogged down with rain, traces of drugs and medicinal residue in the river water multiplied, according to UNT.
The most common drug found in the water was reportedly ibuprofen, a substance used in many popular painkillers, but more worryingly, scientists also found remnants of drugs such as epilepsy medicine at levels that could be a direct danger to the environment.
The study was conducted by scientists at the Swedish University for Agricultural Sciences (Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet, SLU), Uppsala University and Åbo Akademi University in Finland.
It has been published in the Journal of Environmental Monitoring.

Reggae Band Rebelution Aiming for Best Chart Week Ever |
After four top 10 albums on the Reggae chart, Rebelution could be on its way to its first top 20 set (maybe even top 10) on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.
On Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart (below), the act's just-released album "Peace of Mind" is No. 9 -- a great indicator for where it could end up on the Billboard 200 chart next week. The tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (ending Sunday, Jan. 15) as reported by six major merchants.
While Rebelution has had success on the Reggae chart, they've never been higher than No. 54 on the Billboard 200, when "Bright Side of Life" debuted and peaked at No. 54 on the chart dated Aug. 22, 2009.
Elsewhere on the Building chart, Adele's "21" is at No. 1 while new albums from David Crowder Band ("Give Us Rest") and Snow Patrol ("Fallen Empires") appear at Nos. 2 and 3. The two albums are aiming to sell around 35,000-40,000 and 30,000 each, respectively.
The Black Keys' "El Camino" is No. 4, Drake's "Take Care" is No. 5 and Young Jeezy's "T M:103 Hustlerz Ambition" is No. 6. Rihanna's "Talk That Talk" (No. 7), Nickelback's "Here and Now" (No. 8) and Skrillex's "Bangarang" (No. 10) round out the rest of the Building chart's top 10.

Rocksteady Revival Night featuring Legends The Melodians, Errol Dunkley & Many More Sunday, February 5 at Los Globos in Silver Lake, CA |
January 3, 2012 (Los Angeles, CA) As part of the magnificent and timely on-going series that has already showcased such Jamaican legends as Eric Monty Morris and Stranger Cole, the popular new Los Angeles club Skamania is now presenting Rocksteady Revival. This comprehensive line-up at the new location of Los Globos Nightclub will feature headliners the renowned Melodians, who made iconic hit “Rivers of Babylon,” and the equally spectacular Errol Dunkley. To round out this majestic evening are Annica Banks, Yellow Wall Dub Squad plus local favorites Queen P, The Delirians, The Ifficials, Soul Fool Selector and Sureshot Soundsystem and MC Junor Francis.
Los Globos Nightclub is located at 3040 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026. Doors at 7:30pm. Music at 8:00pm. Advance tickets are $15 and $17 on the night of show. 18 and over are welcome. More details are available at 323-666-6669.
The Melodians were formed in Greenwich Town area of Kingston, Jamaica in 1965 by three neighborhood friends: Brent Dowe, Trevor McNaughton and Tony Brevett (brother of internationally famous Skatalites' bassist Lloyd Brevett). After an entire year of extensive rehearsing, and perfecting the art of harmonizing, the trio made their way in 1966 to 13 Brentford Road, home of the legendary Coxone Dodd and his Studio One recording studio. The group recorded ”Meet Me,” “Lay It On,” “Should Have Made It Up,” and “Lets Join Hands.”
The dynamic show veteran Errol Dunkley, who has sadly been away from Los Angeles for what seems like eternity, will be delivering dance floor favorites from his fantastic catalogue that includes “You're Gonna Need Me,” “Please Stop Your Lying,” “Black Cinderella,” and “Ok Fred.” The child star began his recording career in 1965, at the age of fourteen. His debut was a terrific duet with Roy Shirley (one time member of The Uniques) entitled "Gypsy" on the Gaydisc label. His next recording was a duet with Junior English entitled "My Queen," produced by singer and producer Prince Buster. However, it wasn’t until 1967 and 1968 when the name Errol Dunkley become a household name in the reggae community after he recorded multiple singles for producer Joe Gibbs, including "Please Stop Your Lying," “You’re Gonna Need Me,” and “I’m Going Home.”

Adena Myrie Returns to Spotlight with New Single, Staying Strong for Buju |
Though embattled Reggae superstar, Mark Myrie aka Buju Banton, remains locked away in a Miami prison awaiting an appeal decision, more members of his family continue to delve successfully within the Dancehall/Reggae industry.
Digicel Rising Starsfans may remember former contestant, Adena Myrie, who appeared as a contestant on the prominent Jamaican talent show in 2009. The younger sister of Buju Banton, Myrie impressed several fans; making it all the way to the finals of that year’s competition. However, other than a few notable performances and a cover version of the gospel classic, My Redeemer Lives, Myrie fell of the radar somewhat as many wondered if she’d ever successfully follow in her brother’s footsteps.
However, Myrie has returned to the scene in 2012 with the unveiling of her single, I’m Gone on the Notice Productions crafted Daylight Riddim. The scintillating track, released on Thursday, tells the story of a break-up with a combination of hard-hitting lyricism with smooth vocals as she’s seemingly taken a more aggressive approach with her delivery.
In the song, Myrie deejays, “Fi 15 years of life mi did siddung wid a man, dis man did have a next plan, den mi realize him was just a plain fake, di bastard was a liard and a cheater and a con.” In a recent interview, Myrie revealed that she had some major plans in the works for 2012, including a few singles as well as proofs with Dancehall/Reggae superstar, Sizzla. Additionally she performed stage shows during last holiday season.
Meanwhile, Myrie also expressed some satisfaction that her brother was moved from the Limestone County Correctional Facility in Groesbeck, Texas to a federal institution in Miami, where he’s currently serving a ten-year sentence on drug-related charges. However, Myrie conceded that Buju’s situation has been difficult to handle given how long he’s been away.
However, having last spoken to Buju three months ago, Myrie intimated that her brother encouraged her to carry on despite the predicament he’s currently involved in.
"Trust me, all I have to say is he is the one who is really encouraging me, to hold up my head and to keep pushing and stuff like that, and mustn't worry because he is fine," she said.
Buju Banton was sentenced to ten years in prison for convictions on charges stemming from a 2009 incident in Miami, where he allegedly conspired to organize a drug deal within a police-controlled warehouse.

CAPLETON - Prophet - More Fire - One Mission |
The Jamaican artist Capleton, "The Prophet" is currently the hottest entertainer in the worldwide reggae fraternity. In Jamaica, he is one of the most popular reggae artists on the island itself. On the major Jamaican shows he is consistently towards the top of the billing. This year he is billed as a top artist on Rebel Salute.
When he dropped the tune Alms House in 1992, Capleton established himself as more than an entertainer but as a guiding light of righteousness through music. "United we stand and divided we fall," he sang for the benefit of his fans and dancehall comrades. "Nuff of them nah go know themself till them back against the wall." Other of his anthem songs are Lotion Man, Good So, Prophet, I-Testament, One Mission and More Fire.
Many of Capleton's songs "and most of his critics" make mention of this blazing fire. Capleton hopes to clear up the confusion once and for all. "Is not really a physical fire. Is really a spiritual fire, and a wordical fire, and a musical fire. You see the fire is all about a livity. But is people get it on the wrong term. People get confused. So when a man say 'more fire' him think that mean say you fi go light the cane field or go light the church." Fire, Capleton explains, is a way of reminding one‚s brother that they are going astray. "That way a man know say him doing something wrong. That even give him the urge to know say Yo check up on yourself. What you're doing is not right, or else him would not say 'Fire fi dat,' or 'Burn dat' or 'More fire.'" "If we go check it back now," he continues, "fire is for the purification of earth, anyhow you check it. This earth itself have to even emerge from the literal fire also, which is the volcanic activity, we a talk bout lava. The hottest element to rise us in the morning is the sun. The water cleanse, but it's still the support from the fire that burn the water, burn out of the bacteria so the water coulda heal we fi cleanse. The herb heal, but it's still the fire fi burn the herb so the herb coulda heal we also."
This North American tour is getting immediate attention being his first tour in the western US since 2009. Move quickly if you want a date in April or May because this tour is filling in like wildfire.

Their messages of peace, love, community, & spreading positive vibrations has been ringing out since Natty's inception in 1995.
JAH Boogie and his backing band's tight but fluid, rootsy but funky, beautiful but gritty, righteous but real vibration is clear to anyone listening to their music, either at a show or on their stereo.
It's almost impossible not to dance at a Natty live performance. Every Natty Nation concert is a different experience. Their energy is infections & their dubtastic jams are complex, yet their message is simple--spread the positive vibration.

If you wish, and we really wish you wouldn't, like to be removed from this list, please reply with REMOVE in subject line.
It will make us very sad if you do, and perhaps your removal will be the one the makes us decide this no longer worth doing at all, and all the information we provide will go away forever and musicians will sit home alone at night and cry because they have no one to play for because no one knows about their shows. Your call?.. | | | |
