Come Celebrate with Us: 3 Weeks to Go! |
This may be the lazy days of summer for some, but not for me. Since Little Pearls' Board committed to our celebration on August 23, I've been in total sprint mode. Move over, Olympians ~ I'm excited!

A Celebration of Little Pearls with Kat Williams & Friends! |
TA DA! Check out our new Event page, which lists all the performers and the initial sponsors and food donors. It is being updated frequently, as new donors are coming on board every day. There are now more details than on our WNC Woman ad, shown here, and I'll share the final poster when it's ready.

This event is a celebration of Little Pearls, the wonderful people and animals in them and our new DVD. We'll have our DVDs available at the event for a reduced suggested donation.
Some ways you can participate:
- Come and enjoy this wonderful evening yourself, and bring people you love. Tickets are available by phone, online or at the door at White Horse Black Mountain. Ticket price includes some very tasty food, as you can imagine from who we have listed on the event page so far! The food will be available at 6:30 pm.
- Let people know about this event and about Little Pearls. This is a benefit for us, and we definitely need to raise funds to be able to make new Pearls and get them out into the world, where they can open even more hearts AND minds.
- Become an Event Sponsor and/or Food Donor, which will mean significant event credit, plus credit for all of 2013 on our regular Sponsors web page. Contact me ASAP at 828-658-9097 or at linda@littlepearls.org if you are interested, since we're finalizing the poster and a Mountain Xpress ad very soon.
- Volunteer for the event itself. It's going to be a fun, packed evening!

Spotlight Pearl: Reaching for the Stars |
One of the very first Pearls was 17 year old Amanda's, created by Debra Roberts with Daniel Barber. You can see it here on YouTube: Reaching for the Stars. Learn more about Amanda's Pearl and her current life by clicking on her image here:
Amanda has just turned 29 ~ how did both she and Little Pearls get that much older already? I'm sure her mother Patty, who is our Board Chairperson and is working hard on this event, wonders the same thing. You are a great mother, Patty!
Amanda will be singing at our event, so come say hello. Happy Birthday, Amanda! |

Special thanks to:
- All of Our Sponsors ~ many are repeat sponsors, via financial or in-kind support. We SO appreciate their generosity and loyalty. We would love to add more sponsors, who will be featured for at least a year on our website, in newsletters and in event promotions. Share the love and join us!
- Our Music Sponsors ~ several of these talented folks will be in our DVD celebration event ~ cool, eh?
- The caring businesses who are making our new DVD available locally.
- Sponsor Spotlight: Connie Scotchie of Mountain Valley Water, Asheville has been a dear friend for a long time, to us and to our dogs, and a regular contributor to Little Pearls. Thanks, Connie!

Throughout this 10-month journey with my husband Jim's brain cancer, I have had to deal with severe limits on my time and energy for Little Pearls. Several people, unconnected to each other, have said that Jim is my Little Pearl now. The truth of that statement always brings tears ~ and even more love.
We can have this celebration, which was postponed twice, because Jim is stable and doing really well now. SUCH a relief! Here is his Caring Bridge site.
We've had each of our granddaughters, individually, for a week this summer, which has been good for all of us. There are lots of smiles around our house because of this new kitten, too. There is nothing like beloved kids and a new, wide-open life to make things feel better!
And here's something that would bring more smiles, too :)

Warmly, with gratitude
