Caldwell Wins Prestigious Award

In April the Fellowship of Southern Writers will give Wayne Caldwell the James Still Award for writing about the Appalachian South. We think this is a very big deal. His two novels, Cataloochee and Requiem by Fire, have won wide recognition, and tell the story of the human cost of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Wayne, our business manager by day and a writer by night, is working on two other novels, so stay tuned.

We recently asked some clients to tell us what we do best as interior designers. How does what we do make them comfortable? How did we fit with them in a working relationship? Did they feel we gave them good value for their money? Were they happy with the results?

There were varied responses, but the common denominator in all was: we LOVE our homes! They don’t just kind of like their homes, or sort of enjoy being there. They LOVE their homes, and can think of no place they would rather be.

Here are some examples.

Our Home is Phenomenal

Kathryn never came in and said, “This is what you should do.” She provided a group of choices based on our vision of the home, and helped us see how those choices would eventually come together into a harmonious whole. She is a good listener with plenty of energy to make this all happen.

After meetings about the house I always felt comforting relief—that we had made good choices. And I love the result—each room has character, and everything flows together for comfort and style too. Our home is phenomenal, not just very nice.

Behind My Eyes

We were looking for someone who could help us “see” our own vision for our house, not tell us what to do. Linda did this perfectly—her knowledge, resources, and taste gently guided us to a beautiful house. We love our new space.

I think I could best describe Linda as being “behind my eyes,” by which I mean she could really see what I was only trying to find. I didn’t want to be captain of the design team but I sure enjoyed being on the crew. Linda guided us through the project as it evolved, and didn’t let us make a mistake.
