As soon as we open our eyes we become aware of all of the separate forms around us. We become aware of our own body that appears as a form separate from other
bodies. Therefore, the concept that we are all one can be confusing to the beginning meditator. The system of yogic philosophy called Advaita Vedant, with writings by the Shankarchariyas, the great yogi Sages, and others, is that all is one reality without any division. One without a second! If we examine this further, we know that when
we were in the womb we were one with our mother as we were in her body, but as
soon as we are born then our body is separated from our mother's body. At that
point we become a separate body or person.

 Vayu: An Introduction

The Vedic deity Vayu is not a common term within western society, but is one of the most important deities especially pertaining to health and manifestation of the physical body. The Sanskrit root to Vayu is "vaa" which means to "blow" or "to move". Vayu would be one of the first movements from the soul, (Purusha, paratman, Surya, Brahman), which is often referred to as prana. Within the Purusha (soul), Vayu exists as unmanifested power or consciousness. Within the realm of nature Vayu manifests as Prana. Vayu manifesting as prana is responsible for the manifestation of all creation. From a yogic standpoint, Prana and Apana are the most important, as they represent vitality and elimination of toxins. From a cosmic standpoint, Prana starts the cycle of creation by moving from a sattvic (harmonious) state into a Rajasic (active) state.

 Seven Essene Mirrors: Relationships and the Spiritual Path

How many times a day do you look at a mirror? Do you see beyond the image
you are looking at? Pools of dark still waters collected in a vessel was used as a mirror way, way
back in time. Obsidian, a naturally occurring volcanic glass were the first
manufactured mirrors. Examples can still be found in Anatolia, Turkey, believed
to date back to around 6000 BC. There is a more intriguing aspect to the
significance of mirrors as the Essenes believed. The Essenes were members of an ascetic Jewish sect of the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD. Most of them lived on the western shore of the Dead Sea. They are identified by
many scholars with the Qumran community that wrote the documents popularly called the
Dead Sea Scrolls.
