The Weekly Newsletter for May 20-24, 2013
Whew!!! We did it!

Before the ride
Okay - here is one final newsletter devoted to this past weekend's JOYride for LiveSTRONG for teh YMCA of Asheville.

The skies kept the rain in for the celebration (though the riders themselves got SOAKED!)

A whole bunch of people came.
A whole pile of riders rode.
A good amount of money was raised - more than enough to send 60 people through the program.

And a fabulous Inaugural JOYride is now history.

HUGE!
The YMCA folks made a huge wall for people's notes and best wishes.  My friend Alicia translated my scrawling thoughts and the Y's needs into this gigantic board.  That is a BIG picture!

This is Lauren Tamayo, our very own Olympic Sliver Medalist.  She won in the pursuit race last year.

She lead off the kid's ride and then stayed to play with them as they maneuvered the Safety Course.  Lots of fun!

Go Katie!!!

My main guy
This is the man who has taken care of me for the past two years, the reason that i am well enough to be out gallivanting, riding, walking, celebrating.

Dr. Michael Messino.

Thank you.

Lining up
Here they all are, getting ready to take off.

We ran out of rider numbers (we'd ordered 150), we ran out of tattoos (we had 500!)

But no one really cared.  We'll have more of everything next year.  Mark your calendars!  Sunday, May 18, 2014.  JOYride 2014!!

There they go!
And they're off!

We stayed dry but the riders got pounded with torrential rains.  But adversity builds character, or something like that....

What a bunch of troopers.

A word or two from Laurey
Oh wow - we did it.

And now I leave to go on my solo walk.  I'll be back before any of us know it.

In the meantime, Andrew, our shop manager, will be monitoring the newsletter, posting the menus of the week, and perhaps adding some of his own thoughts as we go.

Thank you all.

I'll check in when I can.

Ciao,
Laurey

My hero!
Henry lead the riders out and then turned into light saber man.
What a guy!
