ESTUARIES EXPERT GRANT GILMORE

TO APPEAR BEFORE RIVERS COALITION!

Lots of folks don't realize it but Florida's estuaries have a great deal to do with the state's well being. And no one is better qualified to explore the condition of our St. Lucie River than Dr. Grant Gilmore, who will appear at the Rivers Coalition this month.

Don't miss this fascinating presentation from a renowned marine biologist whose work has involved our area for three decades.

The meeting, open to the public at no charge, will be at 11 a.m. June 27 at Stuart City Hall.

We'll have coffee and donuts, and free parking.

Estuaries are special bodies of water where salt and fresh water mingle at coastal places which are essential for the life and growth of a large host of plants and animals. That estuarine life dies when subjected to too little or too much salinity. It's a delicate balance that's thrown off track at key times such as during the current discharges involving inland agriculture, mainly comprising the half million acres of sugar cane fields.

The river's discharge pollution is getting plenty of attention right now, so this is the time to demand clean water. Enough is enough.

Rivers Coalition public meetings are held at the city of Stuart commission chambers, 121 SW Flagler Ave. Plenty of parking. Come show your support!

Let's Restore the Florida Everglades

Stop Wasteful, Harmful Discharges to Sea. Send Excess Lake Okeechobee Water South instead of destroying our Coastal Estuaries.

We petitioners urgently ask that government agencies stop discharging unnatural flows from Lake Okeechobee into the St. Lucie River and restore the historic River of Grass southward.
