Drum Dance

2013 Drum Dance

The first Drum Dance at the Center For Peace was held in 1994 and has continued to be held annually since then.

This year Perry Robinson, who along with his wife Jeanne, founded the Center For Peace, will return as Drum Dance chief.

The Drum Dance was brought to us as part of the vision of Joseph Rael, Beautiful Painted Arrow.

Joseph wrote of the Drum Dance:

“I was given a vision in which I saw a Drum Dance. Men and women dancers were moving rhythmically back and forth on an open field...

"...The dancers would dance the vibration of the sound, bouncing back (present) and forth (future) and returning to past memory ... This would be a way by which all physical life would pick up the resonating vibration of sound by which to shift consciousness."

Whether or not you have danced the Drum Dance before, this is an opportunity to positively influence the consciousness of life on Mother Earth as well as open gateways in your own consciousness allowing a new vision of your life to enter.

For more information see our Drum Dance webpage.
From the Drum Dance Chief
Drum Dance - Message from the Chief

"I danced in that first Drum Dance which Joseph Rael, Beautiful Painted Arrow, seeded here in 1994. For me, the Drum Dance seems to have been a sort of doorway into mystery. Focusing my attention, energy, and prayer only upon that simple feather and dancing back and forth -- my old brain wanted to tell me it was really silly. During the dance, however, I had several visionary experiences and my life has been changing -- positively -- ever since.

Creator Spirit arranged that I am the chief of the Drum Dance again this year. This puzzled me at first; but I agreed to do this. With Spirit purpose involved, who knows what is going to happen?"

This announcement comes to you as a reminder that Creator Spirit is heartily at work in this world at this time and may have announced Its purpose to you to come and participate in this dance as well. If so, you will know; and no one else can "say yes" for you. I shall take pleasure in welcoming you to the dance.

Drummers, Dancers, Fire Keepers, Dancers, Kitchen Angels, Dancers: I call you to the dance.

We are the Dance. Our feet become the drumsticks, drumming into the earth our prayers, hopes, dreams, and a new heaven and earth. Don't let the "big
headed" part of that bother you. Our "job" is to show up and say, "Yes". Creator Spirit takes our offering and does the rest!
FIRE Ceremony
 Fire Ceremony

7th of each month, 7 pm
~ led by Katy Koontz

The purpose of the FIRE CEREMONY is to heal and purify both the planet’s physical oceans and the oceans of cosmic thought.

At 7 pm local time, fire elders light ceremonial fires at each of the Peace Sound Chambers around the world. Those present watch the fire in silence until it burns out, giving to it what we want to transmute in our lives and staying open to the messages and teachings it brings.

All are welcome. We suggest you arrive around 6:45 pm.

Donations are appreciated.
Work Day for Drum Dance
Saturday September 21st
10 am

Dance Chief Perry Robinson asks that we come together as a community to prepare the space for the Drum Dance, which will take place September 27th-29th.

  • Split and stack firewood
  • Prepare the Dance Arbor
  • Mowing needs to be done
  • For more information email Drum Dance
If you would like to use this work day as part of a Work Exchange there are two things to do.

Contact the chief of the Dance if you have not already made arrangements with them to exchange work for the event.

Contact José and let him know that you want this to count towards Work Exchange.
In any case, if possible let us know that you plan to come so we can plan our work accordingly!
Monthly Sweat Lodges
Saturday Night Lodge
September 7th - 7pm
led by José Gonzalez

Thursday Night Lodge
September 19th - 7pm
led by Steve Citty

A sweat lodge or "Purification Lodge", is an intensely rewarding experience. By entering the womb of Mother Earth (the lodge), we seek purification and a deeper spiritual awareness through prayer.

Generally speaking the experience is to deepen spiritual awareness. The steam, heat, and darkness intensify prayers and personal introspection. The lodge leader (pourer), with help from the fire tender, hold an energetic space of safety and security while setting the intent of the lodge. The medicine of the lodge leader and of each participant helps to enrich the lessons of the lodge.

There are composting toilets in the meadow. You may change clothes in these toilets or at the Peace Sound Chamber. There is no nudity in our lodges.

Suggested Items to Bring:
  • Two Towels
  • Men are requested to wear swim trunks, gym shorts or something similar.
  • Women are requested to wear a skirt or dress. (Something for inside the sweat that is modest and you don’t mind getting muddy.)
  • Change of clothes (Preferably long sleeve and covers all of the legs to keep from getting the feast area dirty).
  • Covered Dish for the Feast.
It is appropriate to bring tobacco, a small gift, or monetary gift for the fire-keeper and lodge master, both of whom offer their services to the people as a gift.

Cash donations are used to support the Sweat Lodge. We use lots of wood for the fire; supplies like herbs (sage, tobacco, cornmeal, etc.), drinking water, and more. If you are feeling abundant, a donation would be appreciated.

There is never a charge for Ceremony. If you are not feeling abundant, PLEASE do not allow this to prevent you from coming.
