Happy Autumn! As you may know, we've spent much of the last year on the road, presenting concerts and workshops in over 50 cities throughout the western states. Here are some photos from the tour. Joining flugelhornist Matheny are Andrew Gross tenor saxophone, Nick Manson (photo) piano, T-Bone Sistrunk bass and John Lewis drums. The 50-member Catalinas Community Chorus, under the leadership of Artistic Director Bill Bellah, is a nonsectarian, community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering music education among youth in Southern Arizona. Jazz Improvisation Workshops
As part of his 2013-14 touring season, Dmitri Matheny is presenting Melodic Mastery jazz improvisation workshops for aspiring musicians of all ages. Based on the teachings of his mentor, jazz legend Art Farmer (photo), Matheny advocates a lyrical, melodic approach to jazz. Workshop partners this season include Rio Rico High School (10/28), College of San Mateo (11/22), and the Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts (12/2). More Info |
