Running fans...Start lacing your shoes! It's almost Spring! Waahoo! Time to get out there and get those feet moving. We've got all sorts of events taking place to help you get back to running or keep you going. Read on about our Spring Sale, $5 5k, Yoga at Foot Rx, and our 1st 1/2 Marathon Training Program.

Yoga for Runners at Foot Rx
6 week series 
Taught by certified instructor Gayle Jann.  Designed to help increase flexibility so you run stronger and faster!
 
What For: Injury prevention, increasing muscle strength, increasing flexibility, and helping your body recover between runs! We will dig deep into the hips, core, hamstrings, and all the other muscles needed for running strong!
 
Beginning March 19th or March 22nd
 Wednesday Night 7:15pm - 8:30pm

Saturday Morning 8:45am - 10:00am
Cost - $60.00

March 5$ 5k
March's Five Dollar 5k will support of
Pisgah Area Southern Off Road Bicycle Assoc. (SORBA).

March's Race Theme: Biathlon (Disc Golf & Running) - Runners will do a 1 mile loop then take 5 putts (discs provided) at a disc golf target/basket, then run 1 mile loop and take 5 more putts, followed by one more mile & finish. Runners will receive a 15 second penalty in their overall time for each miss.
 
Awards: Sole Thermo Moldable Insoles
We will be awarding top Male & Female finisher in the following categories:
19 & under
20-35
36-49
50+
A special award will be given to anyone who makes all 10 putts!
 
The Foot Rx $5 5k is a reoccurring event on the 1st Wednesday of each month, designed to benefit a WNC organization.  The race theme and benefiting organization rotates each month. These are fun, laid back events open to runners/walkers/joggers of all ages, come out and support your community and have a chance to win great products from Foot Rx.  
 
Entry fee is a $5 donation that will go to that month's organization.
Races will be held at Fletcher Park unless otherwise noted. Registration starts at 5:15pm (look for red Foot Rx tent near last parking area).
 
Races start at 6:15pm
Awards to follow last finisher.
 
During the winter months you will need to bring a headlamp as it will be dark, but come on, that's part of the fun!

 4 mile and 7 mile options
We meet in front of the Thirsty Monk at 6:15pm (Directions below) and will be running on the roads of Biltmore Park.  
Directions:
  • From Long Shoals Rd., Turn right onto Schenck Pky. (Between CVS & Gas Station)
  • Enter next roundabout and take the 2nd exit onto Town Square Blvd. (Between OP Taylor's & PNC)
  • Thirsty Monk is 2 TOWN SQUARE BLVD STE 170. on the left hand side

Foot Rx Asheville Half Marathon Training Program
begins March 22nd
The Asheville Half Marathon Training program will be coached under the supervision of USATF Level 1 and 2 Endurance Coach Randy Ashley.  We have designed this program for runners looking for a group training experience who are ready to move from the 5k/10k distance to run their first Half Marathon and experienced Half Marathon runners who want to see improved times.  Training will begin on March 22nd and RUN until the Asheville Half Marathon on June 7th.  
 
Informational Meeting: Thursday March 13th at 7 p.m. at Foot Rx
 
Meet Coach Randy and other coaches that will be involved in the program, see the overview of training, and have your questions answered.  You will be able to register at the meeting.  
 
Registration will be open at  www.footrxasheville.com or register in the store by March 19th.  
 
Group training runs will be scheduled for Wednesday’s at 7 p.m. in Biltmore Park and 8 a.m. Saturday in the River Arts District and will cover most of the actual Asheville Half Marathon race course.
 
Cost: $150 per person/$225 for couples
