Greetings, jazz fans! The Dmitri Matheny Group 2014 Tour is in full swing, including over 100 concerts, club appearances and workshops. This month: an extended tour of Michigan, with performances in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Traverse City and Kalamazoo, and master classes at colleges and high schools all across the state. Just ahead: summer shows in New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, California, Hawaii, Arizona, Idaho, Colorado and Canada, and fall CD Release Celebration events throughout the USA. Join us!
Saturday, April 5 at 4:30 pm Swing into Spring! Enjoy the 15th annual Chandler Jazz Festival, a spectacular weekend of great performances in both indoor and outdoor venues, including the Dmitri Matheny Group on the main stage in downtown's Dr. AJ Chandler Park. Thursday, April 10 at 7:00 pm Dmitri appears as a guest soloist with the award-winning Liberty Jazz Orchestra and Combo in a concert to benefit the music department of Liberty High School. Saturday, April 12 at 8:00 pm Dmitri launches his Michigan residency (two weeks of concerts, club appearances and workshops throughout the state) with an evening of cool cocktails, crime fiction and great jazz. Traverse City's InsideOut Gallery & Outre Lounge presents regional, national and international touring acts in a unique art gallery setting. Thursday, April 17 at 8:00 pm The Dmitri Matheny Group will showcase their popular Jazz Noir program, offering a fresh spin on familiar movie themes from film noir, spy thrillers and underworld crime dramas, plus a selection of new works and jazz classics. Kerrytown Concert House, located in the historic Kerrytown neighborhood of Ann Arbor, is the house where magic happens in the arts. Jazz Improvisation Workshops As part of his 2014-15 touring season, Dmitri Matheny presents Melodic Mastery jazz improvisation workshops for aspiring musicians. Based on the teachings of his mentor, jazz legend Art Farmer (photo), Matheny advocates a lyrical, melodic approach to jazz.
