Radio or Not… Here We Come!
It’s hard to believe that summer is nearly here; it seems like just yesterday we were complaining about the brutal winter, but now the heat is on!
As we enter the “Dog Days of Summer,” we thought we’d turn our newsletter over to our “Top Dog,” Barrister. We also wanted to share our first appearance on senior radio!
Our Community's Future
Kelly Answers the $64 Question*
Usually, we reserve this space for interviews we have conducted with leaders in our community. But recently, the tables were turned; Kelly was the person being interviewed on the Cape Fear Seniors Radio podcast.
She donned her best ‘radio voice’ and had a great time chatting with host Tom Pechar. She answered all sorts of "$64 questions," such as how she came up with the name Four Pillars, why we think creditor-protected trusts are the best way to set up inheritances, and the reason we personalize our services for the individual families with whom we work.
You can listen to the 25 minute interview here.
Let us know what you think and whether you're on the same "wavelength" as Kelly.
* Did you know that both Take It or Leave It and The $64 Question were popular radio quiz shows? During the 1940s, "That's the $64 question" became a common catchphrase for a particularly difficult question or problem. When the show moved to television, it became The $64,000 Question!
A friend was towing his boat home from a fishing trip in Oak Island when his truck broke down.
He didn't have his cell phone with him, but he thought he might be able to raise someone on his marine radio to call for roadside assistance. He climbed into the boat, clicked on the radio and said, "Mayday, mayday."
A Coast Guard officer came on and said, "State your location." My friend replied: "Highway 87, about 8 miles from US-17.”
After a long pause, the officer asked, "How fast were you going when you reached shore?"

Thank you for helping us spread the news about Four Pillars!
Recently my Grandma came to town for a visit. I’m a pretty affectionate pup, but when I see her I can’t stop wagging my tail, running in circles, and licking her nose. Some guys wear their hearts on their sleeve. I prefer to wear mine on my tongue.
As the Client Relations Coordinator at Four Pillars, I suggested a PR campaign where I could lick every nose in Wilmington. Kelly didn’t think that was a good idea (I still don’t really understand why) but we decided to compromise and hold a fun contest!
Since I’m obviously such a big part of the team at Four Pillars, we want to honor all our furry friends out there with a photo contest.
Just email us your best pet picture by July 7th.
The first twenty entries will get a Four Pillars Family and Friends Discount Certificate for the owner. The winning pet will receive an opportunity to be guest columnist in the next newsletter. That’s right – I’m going to spread the love and give up the spotlight (temporarily, of course).
In the meantime, I hope you have a great summer full of friends, family, and fun. And if you can sneak in a few nose licks, even better.
