Professional Development for Educators - Summer Opportunities
 
Teaching Inclusive Mathematics to Special Learners, K-6 Online Book StudyOffered by: T-TAC ODU Cost: FREE

This book study will provide both general and special education teachers with a greater understanding of the challenges that special education students may face in the mathematics classroom and offer strategies to address the different needs, with the goal being providing standards-based mathematics instruction to all students.

Early Childhood Behavior Management: Developing and Teaching Rules
This Module includes information on how to create developmentally appropriate behavior rules for early childhood classrooms so that they link to a given school's behavior expectations. The importance of communication with families about rules and expected behaviors is also stressed.

This year's two-day ODUP Institute will address the challenges of working with students whose family's primary language is other than English. An additional focus of ODUP 2015 is the continuing need to provide strong self-determination skill development to ensure transition programming for students results in positive outcomes.

Creating Connections to Shining Stars is a collaborative effort between many state agencies and early childhood programs in Virginia. The conference will focus on promoting and supporting the implementation of evidence-based practices in inclusive settings for young children, both with and without disabilities.
