Strategic Planning
I want to thank the members of the Board of Directors for all their input and guidance during Monday’s strategic planning and Board of Directors meetings. I think both meetings went extremely well. As always, we continue to achieve our mission to improve the health and wellness of the communities we serve. As our strategic plan develops, it will pave the way to the next phase of growth for Southern Tier Health Care System. The support of the Board of Directors is critical to our success now and in the future. Thank you.

EMS Recruitment
We are moving forward with EMS recruitment and retention plans while we wait for word on our Department of Homeland Security EMS recruitment and retention application. Homeland Security said it would announce awards within 90 to 120 days of the application’s June 11 due date. We feel we had a strong application. The emergency services directors of all three counties signed notices of endorsement for the application and 14 volunteer EMS agencies representing Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties agreed to partner with us on recruitment and retention efforts. We’re holding a strategy session Monday, July 27, so we’re prepared to hit the ground running when we receive the grant. Our target populations for recruitment are people 18 to 40 and active retirees who would be available to cover workday shifts. We need to ensure our community has the EMS protection it needs going into the future. I’d welcome your advice or suggestions. Please contact me at (716) 372-0614 or at dkahm@sthcs.org.
