Dr. Chauhdry’s Presentation

Dr. Tahir Chauhdry, D.O., gave a wonderful presentation to the Regional Paramedic Program students Monday on obstetrics complications and emergency interventions. His lecture was presented live at Olean General Hospital and via distance learning technology at the ALSTAR Training Center in Jamestown. Immediately following his presentation, I began receiving nothing but positive comments from EMS providers in the class. Dr. Chauhdry also gave a guest lecture to our 2014 Regional Paramedic Program class. I want to thank Dr. Chauhdry for taking time out of his busy schedule to help our Regional Paramedic Program students. We’re truly fortunate to have such caring and committed medical professionals serving our community. Please visit Dr. Chauhdry’s Women’s Health of WNY website to learn more about this outstanding practitioner.

SCALE Project

I attended my monthly Leadership Team Meeting for the Healthy Cattaraugus SCALE Initiative Tuesday. SCALE stands for Spreading Community Accelerators through Learning and Evaluation, a projected designed by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. IHI chose Cattaraugus County as one of 20 Pacesetter Communities from across the country to participate in SCALE. Locally, our goal is that by 2020 Cattaraugus County will rank in the third quarterly percentile (31 to 46) on the New York State Department of Health County Health Rankings. Right now we are ranked 54 out of 61 on the County Health Rankings. We also want to significantly reduce premature deaths caused by coronary heart disease. IHI chose Cattaraugus County based on the success of the Cattaraugus County Healthy Livable Communities Consortium. The consortium formed in 2011 to address poor county health rankings. I’m very proud that Southern Tier Health Care System was a founding member of the consortium. I'm also very grateful to have been asked to be part of the Healthy Cattaraugus SCALE Initiative Leadership Team. Together, I know we can achieve our goals.
