Child Passenger Safety

This Sunday marks the beginning of National Child Passenger Safety Week. I want to encourage all parents and caregivers of young children to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure the car safety seats in your vehicle are properly installed to provide the maximum protection in the event of an accident. You can use this Car Seat Inspection Station Locator to find the nearest car seat inspection station near you. Buckling your child in a properly fitted and installed child car seat is the first step in ensuring they have a safe trip in your vehicle. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), on average, nearly two children under the age of 2 died each day in 2013 in car crashes and 345 children were injured. Many of those children were not secured in car seats or using seatbelts. NHSTA said that 637 children under the age of 13 could have been saved in 2013 if they had been buckled in.

Patriot Day

Patriot Day
Today marks the 14th-anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the attack on the Capitol that was stopped by the heroes of Flight 93. National Patriot Day was created to remember the 2,977 Americans taken from us on September 11, 2001, and to honor the brave men and women from the emergency services and the military who responded on 9/11 to protect our homeland. Please take a moment today to think about the victims and their families and the continuing efforts and sacrifices by our military and members of law enforcement to protect us all.
