Good Dog! Coaching & Pet Care
We Love Pets, Just Like You..
Happy November!
As the leaves are falling and the temperature is cooling I already find myself longing for summer! Is it just me? I do enjoy this time of year but mostly because of the upcoming holidays. Spending time with family, friends and of course our furry clients.

Those of you who know me and our awesome pet sitters here at Good Dog! Coaching & Pet Care know that we get a kick out of taking holiday photos of the pets in our care. Dressing them up for Halloween or using props for holiday photos, creating photo collages and more. The pets seem to like it as well because there are always treats involved!  I hope their pet parents enjoy getting them as much as we enjoy taking them. It is just one of the ways we go the extra mile for our clients. Here are just a few from Halloween…

November is also the time for gratitude and giving thanks and I have plenty to be thankful for. So with that in mind I would like to thank our growing family of clients who so graciously entrust and share their furry family members with us. We thoroughly enjoy every moment we spend with your pets and we hope that we afford you peace of mind whether during your busy work day or while you are traveling.

I am also extremely thankful for our family of loving pet sitters who give their all to the pets in their care and to me as well. Your love and care is the foundation of Good Dog! and you are greatly appreciated every moment of every day.

Many of you know that the happy voice now answering the phone when you call us is Shelly our Client Care Manager (Head Juggler). This is a role that has her taking care of many things and people simultaneously. A special thank you to Shelly for taking on this role and for doing a fantastic job!

My attitude of gratitude continues with my family who is understanding of the fact that in this business of caring for living beings there are not always “normal business hours”. They are gracious and kind and love me despite the sometimes crazy hours.

And lastly but surely not least our dog Cole, who without her there would be no Good Dog! Coaching & Pet Care. She brings laughter to us daily and makes every day a good day as those of you with pets will understand.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and hugs to the furbabies!

Hugs and Happy Tails,

Is Your Dog at Risk
for Deadly Bloat?
by Terie Hansen

Bloat, otherwise known as Gastric Dilation and Volvulus can happen when a dog’s stomach swells up and/or twists because it is filled with food, fluid or gas. The swelling creates pressure on the surrounding internal area. This can result in difficulty breathing, tears in the stomach wall and loss of blood flow to the heart and stomach. The twisting or “torsion” also cuts off critical blood flow to the heart and body by trapping it in the stomach both of which can send your dog into shock. Read more here.

I have a fancy name and a happy family.  I even have my own Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BirdeeSmalls.
Essential Oils for Pets
by Tanera Swan
Strutt Your Mutt Grooming

For centuries, essential oils have been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health-care practices. The oils are derived from different plant parts (i.e. flowers, stems, leaves, etc.), so they are completely organic. The oils in plants protect them against environmental threats and provide beneficial properties. Essential oils can be applied
topically, aromatically, or internally.

Essential oils can be used on dogs’ or cats’ based on their individual needs; whether it’s for flea prevention, dry skin, upset stomach, hot spots, or anxiety. (Please note: essential oils are not meant to replace prescribed medications unless otherwise directed by your pet’s veterinarian.)

At Strutt Your Mutt Grooming essential oils are used in minimal portions in shampoo, on paw pads, for flea prevention, etc. If you would like to learn more about the use of essential oils on pets give Strutt Your Mutt Grooming a call at 404-395-7701 or visit them on the web at www.struttyourmutt.org  for grooming specials click here or in person at 5550 Lawrenceville Highway, Suite 4, Lilburn 30047

Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar (adjust sugar to your liking)
2 heaping teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup oil
6 medium Gala or Fuji or Honey Crisp apples
2 cups plain flour
2 teaspoons baking soda (Sodium bicarbonate)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, mix the eggs, sugar, cinnamon and oil. Peel and slice the apples
and add to mixture in bowl (coating as you go to keep apples from turning brown.) Mix together the
baking soda and flour and add to the ingredients in the bowl. Mix well (best with a fork) until all of the flour
is absorbed by the wet ingredients. Pour mixture into a greased one 9x13 or two 9 round pans. Bake for
approximately 55 minutes.
