 Spotlight On: Terrye Jacobs
Terrye Jacobs was born and raised in Key West Florida and spent a good bit of her life in Fort Lauderdale Florida running hotels and restaurants before moving back to Key West in 2010. Terrye moved to Hendersonville just a little under 3 years ago and I can't see herself ever leaving. When she is not working, Terrye loves to travel, sail, ride horses and hike. But most of all, she loves to be a part of something important. Terrye feels extremely blessed to be a part of Hendersonville and St. Gerard House and is so grateful to be a part of such a special community.

Mary Caroline: How did you become involved with SGH?
Terrye: I was raised to believe that "helping/volunteering/giving" is not an option but a basic part of every day life. In Florida, I worked with the homeless for many years, among other things. I thought that it would be pretty much the same here. But I was not led in that direction. A friend of mine was talking to me about how much she liked a woman named Bertha that worked at a place called St Gerard House. So I went and met Bertha, took the tour and immediately fell in love with St Gerard. I saw all that was going on there and was just totally floored!!

MC: How has volunteering at SGH impacted your life?
TJ: Having the opportunity to work with all the incredible people at St Gerard has been wonderful. To be able to help in all different areas is something I really enjoy. The impact of meeting the children and parents and the chance to see the growth of the scope of help opens my eyes to a bigger and better world.
