Blues News You Can Use!
Feedback
If you are a musician (or sound engineer) the word feedback is generally a negative....yes I know sometimes you guitar players use it to your advantage, lol!  Seriously though with the first Jose's Southwest Bike Night just over two
weeks away signalling the start of patio season, I want to take a moment to request your Feedback.
As I have mentioned before to make our calendar at the end of this newsletter I rely on the information in a number of local events listings. Each week I visit sites for groups like Downtown Bentonville, websites like NWAMAG and the Fayetteville Flyer, and venue websites where blues music is supported such as George's Majestic Lounge and a few others.  If you are an artist and are not seeing your gig promoted, please help me find and promote your gig information.  If you don't regularly submit to local/regional calendars then please drop me an e-mail with your upcoming schedule. I am going to start looking to Facebook Events a bit more so I catch those gigs, but do be aware due to time constraints I am not able to visit individual artist's pages.
Thanks in advance for helping make this a go to publication for blues music information!  Of note I am finding the "Check Your Calendar" listing becoming too long so look for some of the advance bookings of local groups to cease being listed.  I will instead return to only listing acts from out of the NWA region as well as upcoming special events.

Lastly, if you feel I am missing the listings of the hottest band you follow PLEASE tell me. I want this newsletter to offer you the information you, the reader, finds helpful. Send any
ideas or comments to me anytime at:

TONIGHT!
Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers w/ Earl Cate

It is recital season!  Whether you adore the symphony orchestra, a choir concert, Boston Mountain Brassworks, or the percussion ensemble...you will find them on the University of Arkansas Campus during the next few weeks.  Recitals at Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall are free. Larger concerts at The Faulkner Performing Arts Center require tickets though the cost is very minimal. Interested?  Check out the full schedule: UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS MUSIC
Another end of the school year "recital" group to watch for are the Fayetteville and Rogers School of Rock bands.  These students would also love to have a screaming crowd at their upcoming performances.  Their performances kick off a bit later in May so watch this newsletter for information!

You have to open your mind. I like the ability to express myself in a deep way. It's the closest music to our humanity - it's like a folk music that rises up out of a culture.

Blues means what milk does to a baby. Blues is what the spirit is to the minister. We sing the blues because our hearts have been hurt, our souls have been disturbed.

The blues was like that problem child that you may have had in the family. You was a little bit ashamed to let anybody see him, but you loved him. You just didn't know how other people would take it.
