An Intro to Ayurveda with Jennifer Speiden

Ayurveda, often translated as the science of life, is considered the sister science to yoga and serves to help individuals attain and maintain optimal health and well-being.  In this workshop Jennifer will introduce you to this ancient system of living in accordance with the rhythms of nature.  The information shared can help you recognize how the elements (earth, water, fire, air, and ether) and
the doshas (vata, pitta, and kapha) can serve as tools to help you prevent illness, promote health, remember your true nature, and to celebrate your uniqueness.

Sessions with Graham will include History of Yoga, Sanskrit:  Sounding, Pronouncing, and Reciting, Philosophical Foundations of Yoga and the Bhagavad Gita.  Contact the studio if interested!

Graham M. Schweig, Ph.D. (ERYT500) has been a student of many traditional teachers of yoga. He has travelled to India seven times, and has been a practitioner of meditational and heart-centered yoga for over 45 years. Along side of his personal yoga practice, Graham earned his doctorate from Harvard University in comparative religion, with a specialization in sacred Sanskrit yoga literature. Graham has been conducting yoga workshops and offering seminars and lectures around the US and Europe for over 20 years, and has been an invited speaker several times at the Yoga Journal Conferences. Additionally, over the past eight years, Graham has been invited by the Smithsonian Institution to deliver over three dozen lectures on religion and yoga at its museum complex in Washington, DC. Among his over 100 publications of articles and chapters of books including several books, his translation of the Bhagavad Gita, published by Harper Collins, has been widely used in yoga teacher trainings around the country. Additionally, in a couple of years, Yale University Press will be publishing Graham’s translation of and commentary on Patanjali's Yoga Sutra. He is presently professor of philosophy and religion at Christopher Newport University, Virginia, where he has received many recognitions and rewards for his teaching and mentoring. Graham, along with his life-partner Catherine, is co-founder of The Secret Yoga, for which he teaches workshops on the yoga of deep study of sacred yoga texts, philosophical foundations of yoga, exploring deeper dimensions of meditation, Sanskrit for yoga, the Upanishads, the Yoga Sūtra, the Bhagavad Gita, and workshops on many other important themes.

All Love Class with Guest Teacher:  Patrick Scott Zeigler:  June 4 - 5 (Introduced to In Balance by Anna Pittman)  
 
What is an All Love Class? First it is best not to label or define what it can be or is, because soon as we define the experience it adds that limitation. Each class is very unique, this is because it is a co-created experience, by all who participate. The class does have a guide who specializes in allowing the group energy to flow. Because there is no set definition of the class, the unexpected may occur. Therefore as a group we are able to move beyond any previous expectation. The class is called All-Love because the most common experience is that of the Spiritual Heart Initiation that most all participants experience; however, it is not limited to only that. Most most common expression is"I did not expect that!" For many the All-Love experience is the most incredible experience of a lifetime. This has been true for many who have been on the path for a long time. Many experienced teachers have noticed a huge shift in the way they teach after the class. What normally may take a lifetime of spiritual discipline can unfold within minutes. How is this possible one may ask? It is truly a gift! Also we are in a great transition here on this planet. Time is shifting, Many of the old concepts are no longer valid. Now is the time to experience this shift. The All-Love class may change your life forever, doorways may open that you never thought possible. Gone are the days of energy healing where you felt a tingling in your hands, now your whole body will vibrate with the wave of the universe, this is not just a concept, but a true experience that most participants will feel through every cell of their being. Jennifer is a STOTT pilates certified instructor at Blacksburg Pilates and Fitness, ACE certified personal trainer and also certified in the Pink Ribbon Program (post-operative workout enhancing recovery).  Her class will include a brief introduction to the 5 basic principles used in STOTT pilates and a mat pilates workout.  All levels are invited to attend and modifications can be provided.    Drop-In Rate to attend.

Connecting to your Soul through meditation is where true healing happens.....During this 1 hour class you will be guided through a soul connecting meditation, positioned in Savasana, and with the help of crystals, aromatherapy & sound your mind will become still so you can go deep within and heal on both a spiritual & physical level. There will be time after the meditation to share your journey and receive some answers to what you experienced from Nicky.

Barre is a fun and empowering class that will tone & strengthen your body!  The warm up focuses on flexibility and alignment, followed by a series of upper body exercise using body weight/light weights.  Ballet inspired moves throughout the rest of class will get your heart rate up and build musclular endurance.  No dance experience necessary, safe for all ages/abilities.  Plenty of modifications given!  Drop-in to attend.
